Thomas Jentzsch
Interesting, but the pictures at the last page are running on an 8-bit Atari computer, not the 2600.
Fort Apocalypse
Interesting, but the pictures at the last page are running on an 8-bit Atari computer, not the 2600. Rats. Sorry! But the first page of the article said: It's the console that stood the test of time longer than any other... the Atari 2600 VCS! From Warlords, Pole Position, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, and even the infamous Pac-Man, the classics from the 70's, 80's, and on into the 90's are still as playable today as when they were released. The characters created still permeate pop-culture and are among the most unique of all video games. It's a mystery article I suppose. The cartridge magically transforms your 2600 into an Atari 400! MayDay
Thomas is correct... Albert took a look and told me the same thing, it has since been updated. There were a couple of other mistakes, which have been updated as well. For example, I never realized AtariAge is properly used as a single name with no space! I put a link to this in my blog here before I posted it over at instructables, thanks to everyone who's taken a look. If there are other mistakes/things that need updated, feel free to get in touch. MayDay
Still working on it, but yeah, all the "bad" info should be gone now.
Albert
If you've been following AtariAge for any length of time, you know that many new Atari 2600 games have been created in the last decade. Have you ever wanted to see if you have what it takes to write your own 2600 game? AtariAge user MayDay has written up an article over on Instructables.com on How to Make an Atari Game. In this article you'll get a nice overview of how to get started, with plenty of helpful links to point you at the appropriate knowledge, resources and tools you'll need. Atari 2600 programming is not for the faint of heart, and the better prepared you are before you dive in, the more likely you'll be to complete a project rather than become overwhelmed. You can read the full article here.
+Random Terrain
While you are correcting things, it's batari Basic with a little b, not Batari Basic with a big B.
frogstar_robot
While you are correcting things, it's batari Basic with a little b, not Batari Basic with a big B. PS. The big "B" is in the flowers.
MayDay
While you are correcting things, it's batari Basic with a little b, not Batari Basic with a big B. *gasp* I knew that... I thought I had it right, didn't realize I referenced it two different times in the article. Nice catch, thanks.
