My first Atari (and the one I play semi-regularly) is a light sixer. Got it July 1980. It has speaker slots, has channel select switch. My question is in regards to the sticker on the bottom with a serial number. Mine has none. I don't mean that it has fallen off through the years. I *KNOW* for a fact that it never had one. Yes, I'm anal - I keep all boxes, instruction manuals, etc; and have always kept my things fairly clean & complete. This unit never had a sticker on the bottom. (a few years later, I won a heavy sixer from a friend on a bet - yes, that one has a sticker w/serial on the bottom).

Anything known about a batch of light sixers without serials? Or maybe they got stickers for the first year or so, and then they stopped doing that? Just wondering.

I just checked through my 2600's and found 2 lights in the bunch:

Sears Arcade - S/N 81338787 (has channel switch, Taiwan sticker, speaker slits)
Atari VCS - S/N 568426137 (has channel switch, Atari-Wong sticker, NO speaker slits)

Add em to the list!

Which ones would they be? Based on # or letter suffix? I always thought the Sunnyvale units would be the oldest ones.

I got my 6 switch Sears unit yesterday and it turns out it's a light sixer made by Dimerco.

S/N 81298093

Has channel select A-B underneath if that means anything.

Just had my original light sixer's box out yesterday. My light six never had a sticker on the bottom of the unit. It was purchased June of 1980. The box has a small green sticker on it that says "T 208030". I assume that's the serial #.

Is it a silver sticker with the number in a black border if so then I would probably say yes.

My light sixer:

Atari
NTSC
SN 81699959
Mfg for Atari by Dimerco Electronics in Taiwan.

It has that big red service sticker on the bottom.

This was the one I was given in the mid 90s that got me back into Atari and started my "adult" collection. (The one my family had when I was a kid was long gone, given up for a Colecovision - yeah, what were we thinking?! ;) )

It works very well, of course.
