StarshipUK
Does anyone know anywhere I could get a Vextrex Replacement Controller or an Adapter? I found this website: http://www.multigame.com/psx2vect_special.html and sent the bloke an E-mail a few weeks back as it is dated 2003, but got no reply. I also found this DIY guide: http://www.instructables.com/id/Modify-PSX...-Games-Console/ But that is a bit difficult for me. Unless anyone here could perhaps make me one and sell it to me? Tursi
In the meantime, it's not pretty, but rotate a 2600 controller 90 degrees and you can use it in many games - the four directions map to buttons 1-4, so you can rotate, thrust, and fire with joystick directions. I used to do that for two players games. I know it works on Rip Off and Armor Attack, anyway.

I have a multicart and two vectrex's (each came with one controller), but one of the controllers is screwed and it would be nice to get another controller for some two player action, without having to buy another complete vextrex system. It would be even better to have a converter or modded controller. I am suprised nothing exists for sale at present, and there is no demand for them. There is an original Vectrex controller on the UK ebay right now.... Failing that I've got a modded Sega controller purchased from http://classicgamecreations.com/ - it was one of his last stock and now there is a waiting list whilst he trys to find a new supplier for controllers. My one is unused (I now have a PS2/Vectrex convertor) which I am prepared to sell - make me an offer by private mail if you are interested. I'm in the UK by the way. VectrexMad! It was always hard to find replacement controllers, at least where I grew up in BC (Canada). I remember my parents calling around everywhere we could think of trying to find a second controller after we bought the original machine. We never did get one. Shouldn't be too hard to wire something up.. as noted the buttons are easy. The analog should in theory be adaptable. I need more time in the day to play with things. Lord Thag
There will be some sold at the Portland Retrogaming Expo this year, I believe. Very nice units too. September 20th!
Jess Ragan
It's not hard to make a stick of your own if you've got the right tools for it. I've done it twice, and it's much easier than making an Atari 5200 adapter. In retrospect, I should have sold the second stick in my fire sale from a couple months back, because I didn't really need it... it was fine in a pinch but it didn't really feel as good as the Red Octane stick I used in my second Vectrex controller project. Is that the converter leads? Any idea how much? I live in England, and would not be able to get away to America that time of year because of work - but if someone could buy me one or two and post them onto me, that would be fantastic. I am one of those people who ends up breaking or blowing up stuff when I try to modify it - I would much rather pay someone else for something, or get something that has already been created or modded.
