EricDeLee
link to my Atari 2600 Portable (in a Lynx) Just thought a few of you may like to see this... If you are anything like me, I tend to stay within a forum for a while and forget to check others. So there's the link... Hope you like it
108 Stars
/ I´m not sure I like the idea of DOWNgrading a Lynx...
doctorclu
/ I´m not sure I like the idea of DOWNgrading a Lynx... Easy... the Lynx is a 6502, which is really not all that much better than the 2600 in one aspect. Besides, the "Lynx" game selection increased by about 600 games. EricDeLee
That just shows my love for the Lynx. I had to figure out a way to get it in there. That next one will be even better than this one. This was my trial run on the whole thing. I learned a lot about soldering lol.
108 Stars
I find your effort impressive, it is just that I do not enjoy Atari 2600 games anymore^^ So you turned a system I enjoy playing into one I do not enjoy, that´s all^^ Any ideas what else you could turn a Lynx into? lynxmatt1980
yeah looks kinda cool, but I also do NOT like the Downgrading a Lynx idea. The LYNX is 100X better than a 2600. I would rather find a way to play gamegear games AND lynx games on a lynx screen.
gloriousconnor
Well, I like it It would be awesome to be able to play 2600 games on the go. I wish I had one...

johannesmutlu
Easy... the Lynx is a 6502, which is really not all that much better than the 2600 in one aspect. Besides, the "Lynx" game selection increased by about 600 games. i was thinking, howabout an interface adaptor for the lynx to play atari 2600 games on it,both cpu's are the same type, however the inperfacer should emulate the graphics and sound engine and/or renders it as a stream data for audio and video, also the interfacer should first copy the atari 2600 game to it's own internal ram to eventualy compress it,and then load the rom,now the interfacer should still be able to allow the lynx communicate with the atari 2600 game constandly for stuff like bank switching or saving data etc,, once needed, trough the interfacer will also need it's encryption bootrom code during setup,,hopefull playing atari 2600 games on the lynx become possible,
Shawn Jefferson
It don't think it's possible. The 2600 video is completely different than the Lynx, not to mention the memory mapped cartridges (forget banked cartridges altogether!) Most 2600 "adapters" of the time (Atari 5200, Coleco) were just Atari 2600s in a small shell that passed audio and video straight through into the main unit.
