user42
I am looking for someone who owns the book "Invasion of the Space Invaders" by Martin Amis I need some help with organizing the pages. Specificaly, I want to know the page numbers for these pages... a.This page may be missing the bottom half (I'm not sure) b. c. d. e. f. g. h. i. j. k. l. m. n. o. p. q. r. s. t. u. v.. The first few have tentative page numbers, but they are just my guesses. If you do own this book please take a few minutes and flip thru it and help me out. user42
Wow I had no idea how rare this book is. I just looked it up thinking of picking up a copy, and the low end is $60....Highest price is $424.57 http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=218369332&xbf=b3MtcWctZnJuZXB1%2F53466345899018724931 Well I figured out a few pages (using the credits page), but I still really need some help with most of them. I know someone on this board has to have this book.
S1500
I have more than my share of early 80s video game books, and this is the first I have heard of it. Looks like an interesting read.
user42
I can share the scan but I'd like to organize the pages first. I guess the original scanner thought it would be better to name the pages a descriptive title rather than a page number....
jhd
I can share the scan but I'd like to organize the pages first. I guess the original scanner thought it would be better to name the pages a descriptive title rather than a page number.... It's a long shot, but you may be able to get a copy through your local library. If they don't have it, it should be available via Interlibrary Loan (ILL) from another library. Usually this service is free. A very quick check of the relevant database tells me that that there are 5-6 public libraries here in Canada that have a copy available for loan. (Alas, none are close to me.) Edited September 10, 2009 by jhd
user42
I did call a couple local libraries but no luck. I did not ask about "Interlibrary Loan". I'll have to look into it. Do they do that in the States? I guess I'll find out.
+thegoldenband
Yes, Interlibrary Loan is available almost everywhere in the U.S. -- it's great!
user42
Well I don't really feel like putting too much effort into hunting down a copy of this book so I guess I'll leave it as I have it. If anyone is interested in reading it there is a DL link below. I think I have the pages in the right order although there are a few that are pure guess work on my part. The ones that I am unsure of are marked with "----" after the page number and also there are at least 2 pages missing if not more. I haven't read everything, just pages here and there while cleaning the scan, but I'm not even sure if the author really likes video games all that much. For one thing he refers to Pac Man as "your lemon" and the ghosts as "Pac Men"....???? Also why deos the Glossary of a video game book need to define "Faggot"...I'm not kidding... Anyways here it is. This is a cbz (renamed zip containing jpgs) that can be viewed with CDisplay or any other comic viewer. http://sharebee.com/ba9da098
xefned
Is anyone able to re-upload this? (Linx dead.) I'm a huge fan of Martin Amis. And also a huge fan of early videogames. And yet, I've never heard of this book till today...
