oldjd
I have seen.what a couple of sellers on Ebay are describing as replacement power packs for Coleco. They appear alot smaller then originals, but in looking at thier pictures the end that plugs into the console is different. When I contacted one person who was selling these,I asked him how it was suppose to hook up to the console. Oh,and this was after I described what it is suppose to look like. He stated that maybe it wasnt for the Colecovision console, but something else made by Coleco??? it is branded Coleco, but one end looks like an old style phone plug. So,anyone have an idea of what these are for,or better yet a reliable source to get replacement bricks?

I don't know about a reliable source though for ac adapters.
oldjd
I dont think so.Adam was powered thru the printer...unless this is suppose to be a replacement to use instead of printer. But still, you would think if the dudes trying to represent it as a replacement, that he would have researched it or at least, made an effort. After I pushed him for an answer to fit,all he could say was guess it doent work on those units. And he never modified the ad,to reflect that it may not be what he alludes to it being.
ApolloBoy
It could be that it's for one of Coleco's Pong systems or the Telstar Arcade.
Bruce Tomlin
Um, yeah, Coleco sold quite a few pong clones long before the CV.
Greg2600
They also made the Gemini 2600 clone. It's not possible to use a common AC Adapter on the CV, because of the design of the system's power distribution.

Pretty sure you're talking about the Coleco Perma Power, the adapter for Coleco's line of table top games. http://www.handheldmuseum.com/Coleco/Perma.htm
oldjd
I apologize for not copying the guys ad. The perma power is not what he had. It looked about 1/2 the size of the original brick, but like I said the end that you would expect to plug into the console is different. Im going to see if I can find that ad again. Now,I may be wrong, but I read/heard somehwere that there are replacement power packs available for the console, and that they were smaller???? +evg2000
There are at least two variations of the colecovision power adapter. The most common (at least in the US) plugs into the wall and into the CV, the other is a brick that sits on the floor and has a cable to plug into the wall and another to plug into the CV I apologize for not copying the guys ad. oldjd
The ebay item number is 320425308669,part #55416. If someone can identify it,that would be great.
Bruce Tomlin
If the item is as pictured, it appears that someone has hacked the power supply to power something else. That is the correct power brick, but not the correct plug. In that case, it is most definitely NOT "New Old Stock". (Which means "old but in shelf-new condition".) What, an ebay seller not knowing WTF an acronym means? That's unpossible! Oh, and it's mint (flavored) too!
oldjd
Yes,and he has more of them. Mint isnt the flavor I was tasting,it was more like (cough) b.s.
oldjd
Has anyone came up with a replacement type hookup for these?I am not an electronics expert, but it seems that making an alternate power connector wouldnt be real difficult? What I am asking is this, can a wiring change be made in the console to accept an alternate power supply? Or is there someone offering replacements for these that Ive not found?
