Paolo
Wait! You mean you *killed* an Atari Computer in order to Frankensteint it into a PC? AAAAAAaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!! By the way, will you set up a smaller version with English text? Thank you for sharing.
Jet-X
Hell I thought it'd be fun to shoehorn a MAME PC or other into a Mega ST case.
mimo
how about an ST into an Amiga case:twisted: not mine, and it is an early work in progress, all the gaps will be filled Edited October 28, 2009 by mimo
Antnee
Funny, because I was just thinking about finding a toasted ST and seeing if I could squeeze a laptop board in and get the KB working. Was actually thinking that the Falcon case might have been better as I could put a floppy/card-reader in without having to cut anything out. My plan was to put USB ports under the keyboard in place of the D15 ports, possibly where the analogue ports are too. Do I have the time at the moment though? I wish! oky2000
Well it looks better than the other PC in an ST case mode which doesn't even have the proper ST keyboard.
S1500
I still someday want to make a standard PC case out of a TI-99/4A's Peripheral Expansion box, and recycle as many parts as possible.
oky2000
I still someday want to make a standard PC case out of a TI-99/4A's Peripheral Expansion box, and recycle as many parts as possible. I'm going the opposite way, I have a 5inch colour CRT tube I plan to make an Atari equivalent of the SX-64 out of one day with an XEGS system
+save2600
I still someday want to make a standard PC case out of a TI-99/4A's Peripheral Expansion box, and recycle as many parts as possible. Now that would be purty!
S1500
The problem I would run into is proper grounding and not short circuiting anything in said case. I'm no expert on grounding stuff. It has a full 2x 5.25 inch bay for putting in drives of my choice. The power cord connector is the same as it always has been on PCs. The card slots for the TI will need to be Dremel'd out as they aren't even close to a match for standard "PC" card slots. I wonder if I can just gut out the heavy transformer on the left side & stick in a modern day power supply. Switch out the noisy fan for a modern one. The power switch will have to be switched out for a soft switch. Added difficulty: The PEB is built like a Sherman tank. Ah fun fun fun. Sure, I won't be able to read TI-994/A disks anymore, but think of the retro factor!
+save2600
For sure! And grounding is simple. You can buzz it out with your DMM or know where the ground spots are (on a circuit board, usually the largest area(s) where you see the most tin. You could use CPU board risers to keep things from shorting out in between the case and the rest of any boards. Grounding termination is almost universally at the point where you'd mount the supporting screws to the case. Thorsten Günther
Our latest hardware atari 1040 st How did you attach the ST keyboard to the PC mainboard - I have not yet found a ready-to-use conversion kit or the like. Was it your own invention? I was thinking of a ST case mod like this myself, but asI was unable to keep the case outside unmodified, I postponed it.
