Video Pinball buttons

I managed to find a Video Pinball machine (C-380), but it's a little beat up. It looks okay on the outside, but the buttons are kinda gummed up, and I had to tighten the dial.. everything seems to work now except for the Serve button... which is intermittent at best. As far as I can tell, there's nothing wrong with the solder points, so my guess is that the button is just old and falling apart. It looks like the actual button can be taken apart, as there's a seam... but I can't find a way to open it up. Can it be done?

Sometimes the plastic top gets kinda stuck when pushing .. But if you take the cover off .. the button works great! If you have to replace a button, you can harvest a button off a bad 2600 paddle and solder in place. The early paddles have the same button!

Go ahead and de-jitter the pot while you have it open.

If you need a button, I can probably pull one off a bad AVP.

Strangely, the pot works great on the machine... it was loose, but once I tightened the bolt on it, it worked perfectly.

I haven't tried anything else with the button, but I did notice that the serve button was slightly different than the rest of the buttons in the machine. It had a metal washer and a spring for some reason.

Yeah .. I don't know what the need is for the washer or spring. Maybe they added those parts for extra lift against the tight fitting cover.
