Why didn't anyone ever post a dump of Turbo? It seems rediculous to me why anyone would decide not to share this game with the public.

One of a kind protos cost a lot of money to buy, usually anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars.

To recoup some of the cost it is common to sell repros before releasing the BIN file.

If you want to buy a proto and release the BIN file you are welcome to do so.

I was wondering because the info page on AA said "The prototype was ultimately sold to an AtariAge member, who sent us the game so we could dump it as well as take pictures and scans of the prototype board and cartridge.

Yes, it probably means dump it for preservation's sake. Incase the ROM inside the cartridge gets damaged, we'll still have a copy to ensure all is not lost.

There is a thread located here, where it was said last July that the game is still being worked on. Apparently there are plans to release it on cart when it's completed. It's been in the works for a few years, so it'd be interesting to have an idea of how much longer the wait will be.

That's exciting news Al. Thanks for sharing! Now I have two things that I can hardly wait for... the AtaiVox and Turbo.

Turbo was one of, if not THE first arcade game I remember playing. I would have bought Turbo in a second for my Atari 2600 back in the 80's, well, looks like my day will come ;)

The cartridge was released so has a ROM been made available yet? I would like to try this game out.

Frankly, you're not missing out on that much. The proto is pretty much umplayable.
The 'enhanced' version included with the release is playable, though frankly I think Enduro and Pole Position are both more fun to play.

That's a pretty good summation of the game right there.

As for why the ROM hasn't been released, my guess is Albert hasn't sold enough copies of the proto to recoup expenses yet. There's a thread around here somewhere to that effect, but I'm entirely too lazy to search for it.

Yes, more repro's need to be sold first.

Unwritten rule like "woman and children first".

for me, it was so cool to finally see 2600 turbo. the later-era coleco 2600 carts are all pretty decent imho.
