Third Party Intellivision Controllers

Albert

Recommended Posts

Are there any third-party controllers available for the Intellivision II so I don't have to use the stock Intellivision controllers? Or other alternatives (such as an adapter that would allow me to use some other analog controller, like a PSX controller). I'm not terribly fond of the stock Intellivision controllers. :D

Thanks,

Blasphemy!

As far as I know, no, there are no replacements. I'd be keen on finding one too, actually!

I think there's at least one third-party controller, don't remember who made it (Quickshot? Wico?) I could be thinking of the ColecoVision instead.

Egads, this gives me a headache:

Al, I don't think so (that's why I eventually got rid of my Intellivision collection). I even had the Super Arcade ones hooked to an Intellivision II and they are marginally better, but they still just took much away from the games for me. I also has a working Wico for Intellivision. The joystick works great, but the firebuttons are worse than the ones for the INTV II. There are some old pages about a Jaguar to INTV mod, but it's something someone that really knows what they are doing would need to attempt (not me).

Using a Jaguar controller would be nice, but the main problem is that the Intellivision controllers support 16 unique directions. That's why I was thinking an analog controller would work better. I'm sure such an adapter could be made for the Intellivision II since it has controller jacks. How are the controllers attached internally for other Intellivision systems, primarily the original?

I never had an Intellivision when growing up and to be honest I've played very few games in the Intellivision library. I do own a large portion of the library now (boxed, even), although not all of the rarest titles. I was just hoping to enjoy them without suffering the controller, but given how many of the games use the keypad, that's probably not going to happen. :D

Al, have you ever heard of these intellivision controller sticks you can add on?

i acutally have them on one of mine, and they arent too bad!

My link:

Yes, I may have to purchase those. That could make things more tolerable, depending on how comfortable the controllers are to hold while using the joystick. Definitely worth trying, though, I'll pick those up unless someone has a less expensive source. :)

Thanks,

You can get these!

I also have a snap on version of a joystick adapter with the big "ball" top for the Intelli controllers, but cannot find a picture on the net anywhere. I will have to dig them up and post a pic for ya.

I love them to death. If you find them buy them. You dont have to mod the controllers and they dont slid off like the suction cup ones.
