I have tried to use both the "My Posts" link and the "View New Content" link, and both report the following error:

Yes, I have had to disable the search temporarily until I can fix a problem that caused the load on the server to spike earlier (and basically brought the site down for several minutes).

Hope you don't have too much trouble fixing it Al, the "View New Content" button is heavily used by me too.  This site is so big, with so many posters that, that button kinda gives me an overview of all the recent activity of the whole site.  Otherwise I just go into the forums I like.  There's a lot of content here and you could read for years on here about things of interest...wait... that's what I've been doing here since '06! :P  :)

I use "View New Content" and "Today's Active Topics" pretty heavily myself.  I have fixed the issue so you can use these again..

I can't use the new content button because it is constantly covered by my profile/controls box in the upper right hand of the screen.  The little down arrow will not make it dissapear. I tried logging out & back in several times but my logged in session always starts with this menu fully showing which covers several things.  I'm using opera. Any suggestions?

Do you have Javascript disabled?  If so, this will cause the menu to always be displayed, which is obviously not particularly helpful.  Can you take a screenshot for me?

Thanks,

The "persistant box" is also present if scripting is disabled in IE.  But the link to new posts appears on the left side so there is no problem to click it (?).

I just use the =1]link saved locally ;)

Thank You both Albert & Nukey for your responses. :) Your both right! I had javascript disabled for some reason and didn't know it, so in my Opera/Tools/Quick Preferences I simply checked on and enabled javascript -now the arrow on my profile box works to close it up! :)(some videos on AA would not play either - no wonder!)

Opera works fine now. Thanks again guys for your help, you both are really very technically knowledgeable and it's appreciated by me.

Kindest Regards,

oval :)
