1980gamer
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been rediscovering my love for Intellivision. The only modern gaming systems I have are Wii and DSi. (Colecovision being the next newest LOL ) With the new TRON movie coming out, I was thinking about all the hours I played Deadly Discs as a kid. I think Deadly Discs could make a very cool Wii game. Throwing and blocking with the wiimote, while running with the nun-chuck. kind of a FLATTENED 3D version of the overhead Tron game. (I don't think I can explain this well?) What other games do you think could be made over or improved? Gene
thrax
I've always wanted to see a new version of night stalker where you scroll off the screen instead of being in the standard maze. Kinda like maze-a-tron but with the robots coming after you. If by totally modern, then maybe a 3D first person shooter with a night stalker theme but I'd be satisfied with a 2d sequel. cparsley
a 2d version of both of those could be possible to reimagine programming on Wii-ware on the Wii system, I would think.
jaybird3rd
Night Stalker would be a prime candidate for this, I think. Any new version should still use an overhead perspective even if it uses 3D graphics; I don't think Night Stalker would be any fun in first-person. I'd love to see some of the additional features that Steve Montero (the developer of Night Stalker) wanted to add to a sequel that he had in mind: multiple mazes (perhaps even multiple scrolling mazes), more weapons (including a bazooka to blast through walls), a greater variety of robots, a spider web left behind by the spider that would slow down the player, etc. If the new version adds multiple mazes, it might also add some additional task for the players to perform, such as collecting keys in order to open a door to the next maze. I think this would give the game more variety and challenge: the original idea of collecting guns and dodging bullets does get old after a while, and it would probably break down somewhat with a scrolling maze because it would be so much easier for players to simply avoid the enemies. I heard Dave Warhol say once that 3D prototypes of Night Stalker and Astrosmash were being worked on at Realtime Associates, but I don't know what became of them. cparsley
You could always counter the "scrolling maze" trouble by looping more enemies in the maze than the INTV 4.
jaybird3rd
You could always counter the "scrolling maze" trouble by looping more enemies in the maze than the INTV 4. That's true. You'd also have to tweak the AI so that the robots would remain spread out throughout the maze instead of crowding together in one area, but I doubt this would be a problem. Rev
intellivision's Shark Shark has an un-official update on XBOX 360's Arcade already. It plays very nicely! FEEDING FRENZY SHARK SHARK
cparsley
Feeding Frenzy actually started out on the PC, it has since been ported to the XBox live arcade and many many cellphones.
jeremysart
You mean like this? (Night Stalker being at the end of the video) <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEezFaEDx6E&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEezFaEDx6E&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> If anyone on here is good with flash and would like to program some games, I would create the art and graphics. I have always wanted to remake classics with new nicely shaded hand drawn sprites, but with original gameplay and sounds.
jaybird3rd
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEezFaEDx6E Fixed the link for you. I hadn't seen that before, but it certainly looks interesting. BTW, the music in that clip is from the Intellivision in Hi-Fi CD; it's a jazzed-up version of the Snafu music called "Snafu City." Fun listen! One of the tracks even manages to work in the "Space C***" joke.
cparsley
These were released about 2002-2003 I believe, for Nokia, Samsung and few other Cell Phones when they first were coming out in color... In that Shark Shark, god that is the MOST lethargic shark EVER!
tz101
If by modernized we are talking about 3D, forget it. Updated 2D translations of Night Stalker, Lock 'N'Chase, and Thin Ice might be nice to see.
kroogur
An updated version of Utopia might be interesting. And online interaction with other players could open up some even more diverse gameplay options.

jeremysart
Like I said, Im up to making the art for the games if anyone wants to program. Im a great artist, and I just got the CS4 master collection, plus I LOVE Intv and own almost all of the games made for it.. it would be a mighty fun project to work on. Also, would love to add Tower of Doom, Commando, Bump & Jump, and Thunder Castle to that list
Tr3vor
I GOT IT. tron deadly discs- a FPS with the wii motion plus, where you can throw it any way you want like if you want to throw it a little to the left, you can give it a curve like a frisbee and you press b to activate blocking mode where you can point at the screen to where you want to block, then add some cover then that would be fun. but dont even take a leaf from Tron 2.0 Killer App's book, yuck, that game is boring. jeremysart
One of the original TRON arcade games was sorta like that, a 1st person view where you tossed disks at a target.
1980gamer
Discs of Tron. Yeah, that was a cool game. The other Tron arcade games was pretty cool back in the day. Using the spinner to aim and joystick to move and fire. ( the joystick was a little non-responsive ) Just thought this one up for the Wii Fit. Donkey Kong. Run and jump with the board and climb with the wiimote and nunchuk The hammer would be fun too. I dropped way to many quarters into that darn DK machine! I love the work in progress Donkey Kong for Intellivision. Kicks the crap out of Colecovision's version. Would love to see that completed and made as a cartridge. Who did this programming? Great job if you are reading this. Gene
+cvga
I would like to see an update for Major League Baseball that has the same gameplay. A graphic update for AD&D Cloudy Mountain would be cool also.

1980gamer
The WIP Donkey Kong I am talking about was included on the CC3 add on I got from Beeslife.com David Harley. It is impressive. I tried to do a movie of it using nostalgia, but couldn't figure it out. I set up a directory, press F8, it says it is capturing, but no output file anywhere to be found I don't know if David is on this board? But if you are, can you post a movie and give any info you have on DK? The game seems very close to complete. Problems I have found are: It plays 2 player mode with no visible way to play 1 player? Some barrel jumps are not detected for scoring. I hit a barrel on the girder above the one I was on. Just once though. ( I used to collect extra point on Colecovision by jumping into the barrel above ) Oh, I'd like to see the animation of Donkey Kong falling when the last rivet is cleared. The springs are in the elevator screen! graphics are very good. including the How High Can You Go screen. Mario dieing animation is included. etc. This is about 200% more faithful to the arcade version than the clowns at coleco did for the Intellivision version. Eduardo is currently working on what I think might be the best DK we'll see on the classic gaming systems.
