Lendorien
Hi all. Got a question and I'm hoping one of the more tech savvy members can help. My 7800 is in great shape, but ever since I got it, the power switch has been a bit dodgy. You press the switch and it might flicker on and off or when on, flicker off and then on again. I'm not to keen on that sort of short type behavior and I'm afraid it might just go out completely one day. I've had the thing apart and it IS the switch itself that's the problem. It looks like it'd be pretty easy to desolder and replace, but I have no idea of whether this sort of switch is available anywhere or even what it would be called. I'm sure someone else has probably come across this issue. I welcome suggestions so I can get my 7800 back in prime form. (It also has Longhorn's AV mod, so yeah, I wanna keep her.) jaybird3rd
Fortunately, that switch is still available. Mouser Electronics carries it, and I'm sure other vendors do, too. I picked up a bag of two or three dozen so I'd always have plenty of spares. Actually, all four of the main console buttons in the 7800 (POWER, PAUSE, SELECT, and RESET) use the same switch, so if any of those start acting up on you, you can use the same part to replace them also.

Oh hey. That's exactly what I was looking for and you even use the same company I do to get stuff like this. Actually, you've been a great help. I had no idea even what to look for. Lendorien
Well, I replaced all the switches today. The part Jaybird3rd suggested was exactly the right one. Desoldering the old one was fairly easy. The switches work like new. A good thing too. I was afraid it might short out.
Deteacher
Sorry for resurrecting an almost 2 year old thread, but I just bought 10 replacement switches from Mouser for .33/ea. I had to replace 2 switches in my 7800, but decided to go ahead and replace all 4. I've got plenty of spares now, but I wanted the masses to know that Mouser still carries them, if anyone needs them. Hi, I just bought A7800 with 3 broken switches (only select works well, power sometimes, reset and pause not working at all). Unfortunately Mouser don't have them available currently, and even when they will be delivered, cost of shipping to Poland will cost 40EUR, so more then half of price of my console Does anybody has some spare switches (at least 2, 4 preferably) and could mail me them by ordinary air mail (that should be cheap)? I could pay via Pay Pal. Regars Frabi
csimar
I realize I'm bumping this ahead another three years, but I just stumbled into this thread and Mouser currently has them in stock. 42 of them, soon to be 38. Thanks for your help jaybird3rd, wherever you are! PS--You have (had?) the best Joel avatar ever. Edited June 18, 2015 by csimar

csimar
Stock: Non-Stocked Weird. I guess I got the last 4, wonder what happened to those other 38? I received my package right away, and have actually installed the new switches on my 7800.
