SoulBlazer
As a kid, this was one of my favorite games for the 2600. Even now I play it about once a week via emulation. It may be a simplestic game, even as far as 2600 games go, but it has the right ammount of challenge, strategy, and luck to keep it fresh and also can get very difficult in the latter stages. I even think the game is better then the movie it was based off. Yet I've never really found anyone who has played the game, much less enjoyed it. Anybody else like the game? Zwackery
I loved the dual controller action of Krull coin-op and also very much like the 2600 version. The movie is a guilty pleasure, too. Here's my Krull frisbee: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/114815-rare-games-whatevah-i-got-one-acre-on-planet-krull And I picked up this sweet Krull poster on eBay in January:
shadow460
It's decent, IMO. I had a lot of fun with it when I was in high school during the early '90's. One thing about this game, there's no excuse for not knowing when you have lost a life.

Gregory DG
Yep, Krull is one of my more favorite 2600 games!
Lendorien
I can say with honesty that I thought the movie was totally silly. I enjoyed it anyway... and now will watch it tonight for the heck of it. Never played the game though. I think I might just do that. Course, the first time I head there was a game after the movie was while browsing youtube one day... (language and ruined childhood possibly alert). In any case, the video claims that Krull is porn. Course, it's also an AVGN ripoff, but eh. Edited April 14, 2010 by Lendorien
StanJr
Krull is great! The game play is pretty diverse and there is lots to do. Plus the level of challenge is just about right. My only complaint is the damn spider room. That room usually eats most of my lives. That and the fact that you lose a life if you pick the wrong path and I get knocked onto the wrong path a lot thanks to that damn spider room! Those quibbles aside, Krull gets regular play in the Stan household! The movie, not so much...
SoulBlazer
I never knew there was a arcade game until last year when I played it the first time in MAME. It's decent, but I still like the 2600 game better.
Tempest
I remember seeing the arcade game at the local arcade for only a few weeks, but I had a blast playing it for those few weeks. It was eventually replaced with Rygar which I also enjoyed. The 2600 game is alright. You can see that they were going for variety, but the gameplay needs some refinement. The slayer level is pointless since you can stop it as soon as you want to or play it as long as you'd like and the spider level is more annoying than fun. The last level is great though. Has anyone ever found a PAL copy? Tempest
high voltage
Lysette Anthony is well worth the movie alone.

SoulBlazer
Doesn't exist. I suspected that, Rom, but thanks for confirming that. Probaly cause the movie wasn't released in Europe?

high voltage
Old German game magazine states that Krull (both arcade ad VCS game) were to violent for a German release, if it's true I don't know. Pac-Man und Co book: Krull: Die Homeversion des jugendverbotenen Automatenspiels. Wird bei uns aber nicht erscheinen, da sie angeblich fuer den deutschen Markt zu brutal ist. Rom Hunter
The home version of the youth-forbidden arcade game. Will not appear here, because it's apparently too violent for the German market.
Thomas Jentzsch
"supposedly" fits better than "apparently" here.
Zogging Hell
I suspected that, Rom, but thanks for confirming that. Probaly cause the movie wasn't released in Europe? Apologies for the first post in this part of Atari Age, but that movie was definitely released in Europe, or at least in the UK, I still have it on VHS (good for a giggle now and again), a lot of the support actors are British in fact (some latterly big names in it as well). I had no idea there was a 2600 game version though.
Tempest
What's weird is I'm sure I saw Krull listed in some of the PAL catalogs as coming soon. I guess they were planning it at least.
Nukey Shay
Not so weird. The movie was anticipated to be a huge hit. Oops.

You did I had a catalogue from a local electrical shop that had Krull as coming soon. It had no picture and I was looking forward to playing it but the years passed and it never made it. Took me nearly 20 years to finally watch the movie
Gregory DG
Krull was not that bad of a movie. A little too long perhaps, but not all that bad.

Tempest
Krull was not that bad of a movie. A little too long perhaps, but not all that bad. It's average 80's fantasy. I own it on DVD, but it's definitely not in my top 10 or anything. The music score it pretty snazzy though.
Dauber
Never saw the movie, never played the arcade game, but the 2600 version, IMHO, is very good. Back in the day I had a friend who would not learn the word "glave" but instead called it a "Krull stick." I saw the arcade game on Starcade several times; I was surprised how the 2600 version was completely different -- actually a totally different game.
