Needed:SF354 Power supply, 520ST power supply, Mouse

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I rescued a SF354 and 520ST from a warehouse, and intend to use them for

various public displays to let people play with older computers (have a long list of systems in the collection for this.)

I could not find the power supplies, unfortunately. Nor a mouse. A friend gave me a black and white monitor, so that is good.

I think I have one of the connectors to build a power supply, and a 3rd party floppy that came with it's own (different) supply.

But if anyone has two power supplies and a mouse they could let go, please drop me a priv msg. Direct email is my username here followed by @757.org, and is the quickest option. Thanks!!

If the connector on your SF354 is female then any Atari 600/800XL or 65/130XE/XEGS Power Supply will work.

Doh! It's male on the back of the drive. So odd. I've got an extra 8bit power supply too. Bummer.

I've got 1050 floppy drives in storage. I'd be willing to trade two 8bit 1050's for the two power supplies for the ST. Or 4 of them and a printer for a 1040ST system (cpu, mouse, psu).

Just using the system for a bit of a museum and retro gaming days we do.

Got 8 bit covered up and down (400, 800, 600XL, 800XL, 130XEs), but the ST is the weak point. Just confirmed Amiga 600 works, now to build a power supply for the TI 99/4A.

This system I got was stored in a chicken coop for a good 6+ years, who knows if it still works.

I could be wrong, but I think the voltages of the SF354 (and SF314??) may have changed, when the power connector changed, which is (perhaps?) the reason for the change.

I think I read somewhere that the last generation of the drives dropped the 12V (it had 5V and 12V like a "standard" floppy) and was just powered by the 5V. That's why the 800XL/130XE power supply will work on those.

A superior intellect may correct this, but beware before rigging an 8-bit power supply to work with it.

Out of curiosity, does your drive look like:

NUMBER 1 (early)

NUMBER 2 (later)

NUMBER 3 (last)

I'm guessing it looks like the 2nd one? I am not aware if they put #3 in external drives, but they did #2. [Never mind the fact it's in the side of a computer, it's the drive mech to focus on]
