Austin
Hey guys, I snagged a boxed Intellivision system earlier today. I owned one back in the '90s, but admittedly I never gave it much time asides from some Bump 'n Jump and Astro Smash. Now that I have one again, what are some good arcade-style games on it? I'm most interested in arcade ports, but anything else that falls into any action/arcade genres should interest me. I did receive Burger Time with it, so I'm looking forward to trying that out. Also got Astro Smash, so I should get at least a few minutes of play out of that one..

cparsley
For classic INTV... Lock 'n Chase Ice Trek Demon Attack Beauty and the Beast Nova Blast (if your into space shooters) Burgertime (OF COURSE) Some others depending on tastes can include The AD&D series (Cloudy Mountain and Treasure of Tarmin) Thunder Castle Thin Ice (Duncan hehe) He-Man, masters of the Universe (tons better than the VCS version) Venture (surprisingly for a coleco release, not bad at all) Vectron (Acquired taste) PBA Bowling and Pinball
AtariLeaf
I really like . Much better than the 2600 version IMO.
JacobZu7zu7
Intellivision has some great "arcade" ports, just avoid Carnival and Donkey Kong and you will be just fine, heheh. They are rarites so it might be wise to buy pac-man or centipede without a box or manual, that kinda thing. Burgertime is excellent best port on Intellivision. The common games are cheap even complete ones, sooo you should check eBay for complete lots of about 10 to 20 common games... like, Night Stalker Tron Deadly Discs Snafu Atlantis Demon Attack Dungeons & Dragons Horse Racing (fun if you like horse racing) Beauty & the Beast Microsurgeon stuff like this... as earlier in the post, check the top 25 games lists, to see what to buy. Austin
Ah, cool, I will check those out, thanks for the recommendations everyone. Spent some time earlier testing out the system and some of the games I got with it. Dungeons & Dragons (Cloudy Mountain, I'm guessing) kicked my ass.. Will have to look in the manual for that one. Burger Time seems like a pretty good port, and it plays very well. Frog Bog seems like it might be a mildly enjoyable two player game. Of course, Astro Smash is still awesome. I received a few other games with it, but they were mostly sports titles, and a couple of learning games.
Akito01
I guess I count as a new Intellivision owner as well, though I did have the system as a kid. I got an Intellevision II today and modded it for composite video (which I kinda sorta regret since the picture quality isn't better, and now I have an ugly square of electronics hanging out the back end). I noticed that the controller plugs are exactly the same as the ones found on the 2600 and Sega Genesis. I know that the Genesis controller isn't likely to work, but I do wonder, and I have to imagine this is the case, that a Genesis extension cable would work to give some much needed length to the Intellivision controller? I also found the power button extremely temperamental, although it worked fine with my bare thumb when I had the case opened up to do the mod. I guess it is that little plastic peg that is causing the trouble. Any recommended solutions for this, other than poking a hole in the case to fit my finger through? jaybird3rd
I've got a few spare Intellivision commons, semi-commons, and overlays listed super-duper-cheap in the Marketplace, if anyone needs to fill a few gaps in their collection.
IntellivisionDude
but I do wonder, and I have to imagine this is the case, that a Genesis extension cable would work to give some much needed length to the Intellivision controller? Yes a Genesis extension cable does work. I love being able to sit back a bit. But the end of the extension cable is too big to fit in the controller port so you will shave off a little bit on the end of the plug. Rik
Some top 5 games that I own: 1. Shark! Shark!(simple but loads of fun!) 2. Thunder Castle (probably a little hard to find and expensive, but worth it!!!, one of the best for INTV, graphics and sound wise) 3. Commando (hard as heck!) 4. Dig Dug (really well done port) 5. Burger Time (not super great graphics wise, but plays extremely well)
4Ks
Space Battle is a great game, and Donkey Kong is severely underrated.
bacteria
Tron Deadly Discs, Lock'N'Chase, Night Stalker. Still classics.
