4Ks
As Curt Vendel and jetset have already mentioned, atari7800.com seems to be mistaking disgusting vulgarity for playful wording. On the front page of atari7800.com is a huge pink sentance that says "If you don't play Atari, then f*** you.". This is, to quote Curt, very tasteless, and certainly dosn't help bolster the 7800s reputation amongst those who don't play Atari. People like Mili and Rev. Rob may think this is "f***ing awesome", but it seriously isn't.

BDW
haha awe. yeah let's boycot them. I agree! Let's boycott the hell out of them! I'll make a thread or two on /b/, let's see if we can get this ball rolling.
MitchSchaft
I thought it was hilarious . Even use it as my MSN messenger picture.
Mili
I take it none of you have noticed me removing any affiliation with the website in the past week. Before you drag my name trough the mud with this website, get your facts straight.
Crazy Climber
I thought it was kind of funny, but then again, Bad Santa was one of my favorite movies so profanity (even though I personally do not use it much) does not bother me. I could see some people getting offended though. Is that the only reason? Just because of the F-bomb or is there some other things I don't know about?
nathanallan
Chill people. Yeah, it's a bit tasteless but it's all in fun and hey, it's pink!
the.golden.ax
Agree with it or not, this is Atari Age. I'd consider this a cross site trolling flame war attempt, personally. Does this activity make us better than other sites? Let's rise above and end this discussion before it goes somewhere we know we don't want. +Gemintronic
Well, opinions are opinions. I object to hotlinking AtariAge ROMs instead of using his own bandwidth.
S1500
I think it's being blown up too much. One person's website saying that isn't going to bring the huge atari 7800 mindshare & opinion(now celebrating it's 12th member!) down. I personally think it's funny. It's not like there hasn't ever been swearing in video games, regardless of generations(from pong to the modern consoles).
KevinMos3
I don't find it amusing, but I also don't need to join a boycott. I don't go there often because the site layout is murder on dialup anyway. Now that I see the front page, I choose to close the tab rather than enter the site. Anyone who goes there will be confronted with the statement first thing, so they can quickly decide for themselves whether they like it or not. It's not exactly something hidden that needs to have a light shined on it to make people aware. If anything, a thread like this will probably generate more traffic which may be interpreted as increased interest from the new approach. I think that's the opposite effect you wish to have if you'd like to see the front page changed. Perhaps a friendly personal note to the site owner would go further.

Albert
It's very much not cool that they are hotlinking to ROM images on AtariAge. I will investigate this and take action later today when I am able. ..Al

It's just some of us citing our opinions on something that is unquestionably lacking taste. It's not a matter of being better than them/him, but it does speak to how well this site is run. Imagine if Al had that on the AA homepage? I see what you're saying, but that's part of a discussion board. People are going to have differing opinions and as long as they're not blatantly flaming someone there's nothing wrong with it imo. ...And if you dont like it then F***.... ah, nevermind. I keed, I keed.

Mili
I broke off any interest in the site about a month ago, but I finally got around to removing all affiliation with the site as of a week ago. I had no problem with the site's slogan, or the console itself.
Albert
I just took a look. There's really no reason to be so offensive on the splash page, I don't see any reason to do that except for the shock value. I then looked at the various game pages, and not only are the ROMs hotlinked directly to AtariAge, but all the cartridge images were also ripped from AtariAge. Who runs this site? ..Al

4Ks
Oh, so they're also hotlinking AA roms without permission? I can totally see why Mili pulled out of that place (which I didn't know until just now, so you can disregard the comment about her in the first post).
Lauren Tyler
Just. Wow. This was mentioned in Retro Gaming magazine in their article about the Atari 7800. This is an insult to my favorite classic system!! How could they do this?! And Mili, I'm so sorry this had to happen to you.
