Ah, you got that triangular patch. It was very unusual. It does make me think of Tempest. I didn't see the auction until it was over (I skipped my usual eBay perusal that day - the danger of those one day auctions), otherwise I would have bid. Can you make out the copyright date? I asked the seller and he said he couldn't read it.

I have several other Atari patches, including ones for Asteroids, Centipede, and Tempest, as well as the Atarian Certified Game Player patch, several different Fujis, and a Captain Atari Club which is Australian.

Also, thanks for posting the pic of those other pins. I've got the original set of 12, plus Asteroids, and I knew I had seen one other on eBay (Pole Position IIRC). I didn't know that Liberator, Quadrun, and Star Wars had pins. Hopefully I'll be able to find those.

I knew about the asteroids(pretty common) so much so I would say it should be considered one of the know 12. The pole position(very rare) and star wars(extremely rare) I knew about, but could not find.

Liberator and quantum were a total shock to me. Never seen or heard of them before. One day they popped up on an ebay auction I was lucky enough to win.. I would put them in the extremely rare category.

as for the patch, The stitching is really hard to read in that area. I think it says TW or TWI © 1980 or 1981 atari inc. Why someone would do a 1 day auction is beyond me.. It was pure luck I noticed it. Good for me as I would probably had to pay 10x what I did if they gave it more time..

I thought I made a mistake a posted the pins as Quadrun. The pin is Quantum. Very rare atari vector.

I forgot about those atari tempest, centipede, and asteroids patches. They are pretty common and I have them. I also have some 20th year atari pin and a few others. My main goal is to find out if any other atari arcade game pins are out there.

Its def a Tempest patch, the lettering at the bottom says "TM © 1981 Atari"

Tempest came out in the arcade in October of 1981 ;Q

It's just a patch given out as part of the Discover Atari campaign from 1981, it doesn't have anything to do with Tempest specifically. It's more replicating the colorful light refracting through the prism used throughout the campaign. Someone came into a cache of them and has been selling them on eBay.
