+orpheuswaking
How about you go over to JSII and read the hundreds of threads on this very topic? For a simple example you would know that Robinsons Requiem has been found and Songbird has it, but has yet to announce its release. Or the fact that Ultimate Brain Games has been foun and released in it's incomplete form... The other issue is the majority of these games will involve liscensing issues.

The_Laird
I wrote the big guide on them over at JS2 that Orpheuswaking has mentioned and while I have never got round to doing write-ups on every game I have detailed the current status of pretty much all of them. I doubt the guide at JS2 will ever be finished but I will be publishing an updated one somewhere else very soon
neo_rg
When you include the info for SoulStar, I'd like it to say 'fully working version, soon to be released by Reboot'
The_Laird
Did you get the permission from Core/Eidos then? Congrats!!! The guide just like the one on JS2 only covers lost & unreleased games. I got some great information from some people in the last week too on both lost Jaguar and Lynx games!!!
neo_rg
We will be giving an ISO image of the game away for free, just like on JS2.

+Stephen Moss
Short answer, sure they can be resurected if someone wanted to write them from scratch. Long answer, no, not unless a significant amount of source code can be found that can be used as a basis to work from then for most of those probably not espically when you consider the currently small amount of people with the skills and Jaguar programming experiance to actually do it. I don't think anything other that a couple of screen shot still exitst of James Garvins projects (The Assassain, Age of Darkness and Scent of the Spider), there might be enought of BIWN to finish it eventaully. I belive the American Hero source code and all the video clips are now availabe so that has the most chance of actually being finished and possibly Verunas Forces as I belive some code for that exists as does the level editor. Painter has you probably know has been finished and released on both CD and Cart.
The_Laird
The sadest thing is that there are quite a few games on that list that were finished and never released but the source code/rom has since been lost. For example Kick Off 3 by Anco, Dragon's Lair 2: Timewarp and Creature Shock CD by Argonaut. All those 3 and more were confirmed at some point as being "complete" by the original programmers but also lost There are also a bunch of games on the list that existed in unfinished/prototype form at some point and have been lost. This includes games such as Quake by ID Software, Tomb Raider by Core Design and Mortal Kombat 3 by Midway.
Gunstar
I see 15 games in that list that have a playable Alpha, very playable beta, nearly complete beta or completely finished games that have been released free or for money, or are awaiting release. Sorry, I don't feel like listing them all. Many more in that above list that have something available for them, like some source code or whatever. Though those 15 may be all we get, unless the several in the list that are known to be finished, but are still lost ever show up, which tends to get less and less likely as time passes, but, the glimmer of hope is that titles for the 2600 and other systems are still being found after 20 or 30 years, but they were also much more extensive systems (games library) and lasted much longer than the Jaguar. Many of the titles in that list were merely announced and never got any further than that, as far as we know.
GKC
Anyone got any info or idea on what Songbird's mystery projects may be? I Understand they are "mystery" projects but we all know how things like that go. Edited November 6, 2010 by GKC

The_Laird
Robinson's Requiem CD is 100% finished, its been floating around for ages but there was trouble trying to get the rights for it. I highly doubt that Dactyl Joust is anywhere near finished, if its the secret project that is

Punisher5.0
1 of them is Robinson's Requiem and its been rumoured that the other is Dactyl Joust. Dactyl Joust would be awesome. The vid that was floating around many years ago was very impressive looking.
Gunstar
1 of them is Robinson's Requiem and its been rumoured that the other is Dactyl Joust. The other one could also be the lost Ishar III from the same people as Robinson's R., it could be he's secretly gotten the source code for his Phase Zero demo and a finished game is coming. But I'd like to point out that even Robinson's Requiem isn't yet proven to be the first "mystery project", IIRC, he had those 2 "mystery projects" listed before Carl got his hands on RR (which also hasn't been proven, I don't think, that he was the one who bought the game from JaySmith2000, Jay, you haven't told yet, right?). It may be that if Carl is the one with RR (which I do believe), that it's seperate from the two "mystery projects"
The_Laird
Jay confirmed that he sold RR to Carl and that he was going to release it some time ago now The other rumoured game is of course Mortal Kombat 3. We know that it was close to being finished if not finished as there are people who have played it and it was shown to the press too. When Carl got Total Carnage from Midway he did mention something about the possiblity of some other games and shortly afterwards the Dactyl Joust (also by Midway) video appeared
Gunstar
Out of all the possibilities, I do hope it is Dactyl Joust, that is, if it's complete enough to be very playable. The video definatley looked impressive, but was awful short, and showed no gameplay at all. Are you postive about Dactyl Joust coming from Midway?!? As I recall, it's a High Voltage Software developed game, and all their other titles were published by Atari. Of course Midway had to play some role, since the Joust name was their's, but I think it was just licensing. I think it's still seperate from other midway titles like TC, even if Atari was going to publish TC themselves too, becuase it's not just different development teams, but totally different development houses doing the DJ and TC, and most likely MK3 too. carmel_andrews
Somewhat disappointed that only 15 games from the jag list were actually being worked on (i.e code exists etc) still, at least that is about a quarter to a third of the jaguar library for commercially released games back in the day
