Zeke Wild
why is it that NTSC versions are always consided more expensive then their PAL brothers. is it becouse most of the collectors are in the Us? or becouse NTSC canot play PAL games that wel? or are individuals trying to control the Value of rare games so only american NTSC games are rare (Valuble) EG a NTSC game is "RARE and sort after buy many" and a PAL version of it is not. what would happen if someone found a PAL Air Raider for example? (i have not got one this is just an example) Edited November 8, 2010 by Zeke Wild
Rom Hunter
why is it that NTSC versions are always consided more expensive then their PAL brothers. is it becouse most of the collectors are in the Us? or becouse NTSC canot play PAL games that wel? or are individuals trying to control the Value of rare games so only american NTSC games are rare (Valuble) EG a NTSC game is "RARE and sort after buy many" and a PAL version of it is not. what would happen if someone found a PAL Air Raider for example? (i have not got one this is just an example) The NTSC version of a game is considered to be more original than the PAL version, simply because it was the first version that was released (in most cases) and it is considered to be closer to the source (for example: Atari = US / NTSC = US). However, some Taiwanese VCS games were released as PAL originals and still these are considered inferior and less worth than US released games, which make no sense to me. Has something to do with American pride, I guess.
Dino
Its all to do with what people like to collect. The lion's share of collectors (and certainly those with the deepest pockets for this hobby) are Americans who are for the most part are only interested in collecting games released in the US. Given there were only about 700 different titles released in the US, it gets pretty heated when you have quite a few collectors all trying to complete their collections. Conversely, there is a great supply of PAL games in Europe and Australia and far more titles, and relatively few collectors who are not prepared to spend thousands of dollars on games. European collectors are also just as interested in collecting NTSC exclusives, which again drives the price up for those titles. So overall, you have a far greater supply of, and number of different PAL games compared to demand than you do for NTSC games, thus the price differential If you are a PAL collector, you should consider yourself lucky since you can get really rare games for a relatively small price, making it great for collectors and not so good for speculators and resellers.
