tz101
I tried this game for the first time last night, but don't have any overlays or the instruction manual. At first glance, it looked somewhat like River Raid, but my shots had no affect on enemy aircraft. Is there something I am missing in gameplay tips? Are there number pad buttons that do anything with the overlays if you have them? Why did the bullets not down the enemy aircraft? It didn't make sense. IntellivisionDude
I don't have the manual either. But those black things at the beginning are like guided missiles they are shooting at you from the ground and are not enemy aircraft. You can't shoot them but just avoid them and bomb everything on the ground. The point is to bomb everything you can. There are enemy aircraft as well, you should start seeing them about 4 minutes into the game. Those you can shoot. The top side buttons are bombs and the bottom are bullets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUQgSD06RKE Edited November 16, 2010 by rgw825
edintv
Depends of the altitude your ship is going, try go up and down to find out the correct one. There´s was a time I was very in to this game as a kid, but with everything you do too much (well, not everything) you get tired of it. You can find the scn of the game manual here: http://kentrepairs.com/General/Intellivision.asp Yes, the Scan, no lame text file. also the overlays can be downloaded.. Chuck D. Head
Depends of the altitude your ship is going, try go up and down to find out the correct one. The scaling of your ship as you change altitude (using up and down on the disc) is kind of subtle and I missed it for a while and once I realized you could change altitude, then I started hitting other aircraft. It also affects the amount of time your bombs are in the air before hitting ground.

Tempest
I have the original game on my DECO Cassette System cab. It's alright, but not great. It reminds me of 1942 in some ways, but simpler. It's a decent Intelli game though. Tempest
JacobZu7zu7
I had the same problem when I first played this game, I couldn't figure out why I couldn't shoot the JET looking things launched at me... but you don't, they are actually guided missles that you only have to 'AVOID' if they come in contact with your plane, you lose a life quickly... There's a trick probably already mentioned here, if your flying into missles or they are following you quickly, you change your altitude UP or DOWN... then even if your on the same level as the missle you don't get HIT by them! Also, the bridges and trains get you the most points something like "500" points per bombing, as do the war ships... which are grey also like the subs, but have black strips on their tops, they don't show up often but you can recognize them when you see them floating by the regular ships by the black strips. After reading the manual and figuring things out, I actually like this game, and prefer it over the other ones of same genre like 1942.
