AtariUser 12 1992-04 The New Machines - 28 Pages 21,714,538 bytes

Issue #112 of AtariUser Magazine from April 1992.. Oh! We went from 36 to 28 pages... No good! and they keep messing with the format making it difficult for me to give a decent consistent looking index to you good people. This magazine came out late when published because they were holding out for information on the new Ataris that never came... Also they were going to have more BBS related articles but the person writing them was sick so hence the 28 pages. Still there is some news about CeBIT 92 and the news log is always interesting.. Always great to see how they try to turn any news as a possible turning point for Atari. I remember when I used to to that :)

AtariUser 13 1992-05 Reviews and BBS - 32 Pages 25,903,063 bytes

Issue #13 of AtariUser Magazine from May 1992.. Well somebody at AtariUser headquarters sure loved those yellow covers :) I wonder if it was because at the end of the day color printers always have a lot of yellow ink left?

The news is always interesting in these magazines though I preferred the inclusion of the Z*Net stories as well. This issue we have Fourth Quarter results form Atari, MultiTOS preview, some other unannounced products in the GEnie conference, the STacy is back! That's just the from the first of five pages.

Oh no!! Did you throw them away?

There is an issue #14 on its way so the only missing issue now is #20 (December 92). With yours gone I only know of one other person that has it and he was not ready to give it up for the cause last time I spoke to him :)

I have issue #15 ready to go... I'll post it up tomorrow then swing around and get #14 next week if it arrives in the next few days.

If anyone has the Dec 1992 issue - these mags are small enough that I can get them scanned non-destructively (no need to split the spine) and return it to you... We are only one magazine away from having the complete collection...

AtariUser 15 1992-07 Summer Fun - 32 Pages 23,487,248 bytes

Issue #15 of AtariUser Magazine from July 1992.. Oh look, more yellow! OK, OK only half of it :) So another special Summer Issue which means.. games! Yeah! Mostly the ST and some Lynx with the 8-bit getting the shaft. The news was kinda sad to read - the Milwaukee AtariFest was a disappointment with only 200 people coming even though there were big names and announcements... There was also a blurb about the declining User Group memberships and creative ways to keep number up... Kind of interesting that they were trying to grow for growing sake like a business.

AtariUser 14 1992-06 Survival Kits - 32 Pages 26,396,193 bytes

Issue #14 of AtariUser Magazine from June 1992.. This is one of the two missing magazines from AtariUser that I did not have. Many Many thanks to Retrogeeks for sending me the magazine. I ended up have to split the pages so he ended up sacrificing the magazine for all of us to have a chance to read it.

I have the rest of the 6 remaining magazines (expect the one missing issue - #20 from Dec 1992) scanned and ready for processing so I should be back on the once a week schedule now for the next few weeks. If anyone has the Dec 1992 please get int touch and we can finish up the entire run.

Hi people.. Sorry for the long delay. For some reason my IP address is being blocked by this site.. Going through a proxy works but I am unable to upload photos, add links (they get edited down) etc.. It has been nearly a month and I quite frankly I\'m at the end of my patience of trying to get it fixed.

I did want to post the last few mags.. Hopefully someone can reply and repost them as a links if they turn out wrong:

Great to see there is still appreciation for the work we put into AtariUser.

I'm the publisher, and I'm glad this was all posted.

If there are still missing issues, I have them all... and I think I still have the final issue that never got printed when the Northridge earthquake demolished my office... and somehow didn't drop too much ceiling on me in the next room, so I'm still here.

All I have left of my Atari stuff (other than the publications) is my Stacy 4, serial #2, presented to me by Atari...

Issue 20 and 22+ still missing though, anyone on this?

Here's what #20 looked like. I'll look into my options for scanning and posting.

#21 was the last produced issue, #22 is the issue that never came out... and there were to be no more. I still have some art and page layouts from that issue, including a nice cover featuring the Jaguar. I'll share that as I find it.

We had a pretty rocky time at the end. We lost most of a year collecting as we could on ads bought on credit to companies that found themselves unable to pay. All of the "staff" for the second year of production was volunteer, all advertising money went into production. When my own money was the only way to continue, we did, for one issue, then regrouped and things actually started to get better. We were a week or so away from publishing #22 when the earthquake changed everything. Life got complicated, my home needed major repair, and my real work - at the State Bar of California - needed more hours as I worked with coordinators to get legal assistance to quake victims. By the time I and others had time and energy for AtariUser again, Atari was slipping beneath the waves, and advertisers had fled to other computer brands. It was really over. We were sorry to go away still owing some paid subscribers a few issues. But with no way to collect thousands of dollars of unpaid advertising for defunct or failing sellers, we had no choice.

Hi John. Thanks for sharing so much with us. There is still a small but boisterous and dedicated group of Atarians around!

Hang on to that STacy - she's a keeper. I've just been recently restoring mine, and taking it very unexpected places. You can follow my threads here at AtariAge or AtariForum, if you're interested. Serial #2 - that's just awesome! :)

Thanks again!
