cyber paint

Hi Kernal,

I recently added support for the Cyber Paint SEQ format in MultiShow.

This allows to play SEQ files natively on any Java enabled computer (PC, Mac, Linux, ...).

In addition the application can also show a struct view of the SEQ format in order to analyze files.

BTW, I am currently working on a page about Atari Animations.

So, I am always looking for cool animations created on Atari computers.

Maybe you can upload your SEQ animations to the forum?

there is a program to convert .seq to .avi?

So I can use it in my dvd-creator. ;)

Since ANIMApplet used on my Atari ST Animation pages requires IFF files, I recently wrote a converter.

This tool has now been enhanced and is able to export the following formats:

- Amiga IFF ANIM

- Amiga IFF ILBM (to export frames as IFF ILBM images)

- Microsoft AVI

- Apple QuickTime MOV

SEQConverter runs on all Java enabled platforms (Mac, PC, Linux, ...).

BTW, Cederic Bourse wrote another nice tool to convert SEQ animations into GIFs.

You can download it from his website.

See for 'Atari Computers / Tools / CyberPaint SEQ To GIF'.

@ krupkaj

I already knew this site, it has a lot of background informations about the Cyber Studio programs.

The animations in the 'Quicktime Gallery' are very nice indeed.

Does anyone know if the original Atari files are available somewhere?

SEQConverter has been updated in the meantime.

The current version is now able to export an image sequence of .PNG as well. :)

The video frames are compressed with a lossless delta-compression method.

The ratio is best with Amiga IFF ANIM files and variable frame rate.

The resulting files are comparable in size with Cyber Paint .SEQ animations.

The compression ratios of .MOV and .AVI have been improved and are now only about twice the size of a .SEQ file.

I was trying to find animations presented in the 'QuickTime' gallery krupkaj mentioned:

@ DarkLord

I am looking for some animations shown in the Antic QuickTime Gallery.

The provided links are the animations I already found and that are now available on my Atari ST Animations page.

The pages usually feature a download link of the original Atari file.

I am interested in some animations shown in the CyberMation demo reel:

Dragon by Doug Thomas at 02:47 or at 11:10

Dragon Walk Cycle also by Doug Thomas at 11:19 or at 13:49

Piano Fly Around by Mark Pennel at 03:21 or at 07:58

42 With Mirros at 04:12

Computer desk fly around by Mark Pennel at 13:01

The animations presented in these clips are very nice as well:

TRON Recognizer by Martin Doudoroff

Coke Can by Mark Pennel

Rolling Coke Can by Mark Pennel

The Cyberscape demo is compound from DLT animations. DLT is another animation format from Cyber paint. Maybe you can add this animations to your gallery too.

Unfortunately my Cyber Paint 2.0 version refuses to load these Cyberscape .DLT files.

Can someone convert them into .SEQ files? I then would be able to add this demo as well.

Space Probe his is the only .DLT animation I've got so far. Cyber Paint didn't have any problems loading it.

Thread bump!

Hello,

I'm looking to find out if one can use a wacom serial tablet with cyberpaint.

Anyone here has experience with that ?

Also what about a cx77 tablet ?

With a friend we are trying to gauge what was achievable with a standard 1040

in the context of a 2D black and white animation ( lores );

graphics tablet is a must.

Probably not that useful since it's Falcon-only, but Apex can read/paste 16 colour SEQ from ST and read/write 256-colour FLC animations (Animator Pro from PC).

I just mention this because the topic doesn't come up all that often - there are not many Atari programs that can work with those formats and it's pretty close to Cypaint in operation.

I also used Cypaint quite a lot in the 90s before writing Apex - so it's not a coincidence :)
