Ive been at this a long time, and never heard of it before

Cool! Glad I could actually contribute for a change! Boy how I loved FoReM bbs' they just crashed to damn much!

I hated running express but really had no choice at the time. I think Carina had just come out within the last year of my bbs' existence and my buddy started running it and it was a total mess. I'll never forget his email system was public to all users. Yeah I know he set it up wrong but that was all needed to see to stay away from Carina.

The Resistance! works better now. It seems that Pro BBS really does misbehave badly under SDX. :( :( :(

It is running much better now, please try it and let me know if you can lock it up, or if any strangeness occurs. :)

Thanks!

Kyle, what did you do to get PRO running on SDX?

I'm setting up a test BBS to use on my new A8 GateWay program, but so far PRO and the old BBS Express! report a Memory Conflict...

The A8 Gateway allows you to connect your Atari running a Terminal Program such as AModem, Express 850, BobTerm or ICE-T to an Atari BBS or act as a BBS Server when you run a BBS on your Atari.

I'm current using a Atari 800 with a ICD P:R:C: connected to a Lantronix UDS-10. The A8 GateWay can convert a Host Name to an IP Address so you no longer have to use a telnet client. Instead you just type in from your terminal program ATDT broadway1.lorexddns.net and the port and i t will do the connecting for you.

I'm also incorporating a POP3 / SMTP E-Mail Proxy so you can Send an Receive E-Mail directly from your Atari :)

Some parts are currently used in debugging right now...

Just out of curiosity though, what functionality does it provide as a BBS server (I just route anything to the destination addresses for the BBS's right to the Lantronix boxes, but I could use something that kept track of the IP addresses...)

Sounds interesting. Best of luck with it... (Alas, i was hoping it would be a replacement for TCPSer or the Commodore BBS Server).

It is :)

When a remote Terminal connects to the A8 GateWay in the BBS Server configuration, it will connect to the IP Address of a Lantronix box or WiFi Device that is attached to the Atari and send the appropriate LineFeed character(s) with a "CONNECT" string to indicate to the Terminal of a connection.

The A8 GateWay will keep track of connecting IP Addresses and can Block Nuisance Users. I'll also add a list of BBS's called so you'll also be able to use something like "ATDT #1" to connect to the first BBS in the list and so on...

Of course other ideas of what to add will also be considered :)

Well, the point of the commodore BBS server is that it uses a serial connection so it becomes a serial to telnet gateway ( replacing the lantronix box). The logging and nuisance block would be useful though (which is why I was experimenting with BBS server to begin with, but it didn't work right with SFHQ).

Yes, but with the A8 GateWay, you get:

-> DNS Routing

-> Host Name Blocking

-> Expose the Atari to ALL TCP/IP Protocols, not just Telnet

-> Future expansions to include FTP Client to download files and IRC Chat...

Heck, you could also use it to connect to Time Servers to update the Clocks in U1MB, Incognito and others.

Next questions:

1) What do you use to "Raise the DTR" in Pro! so that it's seen by a modem or UDS-10?

2) I updated Pro! 1.0b ti 2.0b, but I only found 3 backups that contain 2.0b with docs some CMD and ARC files. Looks like I'm missing one that has "LFONT.ARC" and maybe more. Can anyone confirm how many disks this update has?

I don't recognize LFONT.ARC. That must be from a version newer than 2.1b which I use.

Thanks for looking...

I was looking at the update disks and it was the last file in the directory, but deleted so I figured it was added to another disk.

Next Q; can someone tell me what the DLTIME.DAT file looks like, it wasn't in the docs.
