Javascript image viewer

I just had to mention here that I really dislike the javascript image viewer in atariage. I *always* open images with a middle click into a new tab. The javascript on the forums doesn't support this. When I middle click on an image in the forums here, it enlarges the image in the same forum window. When I go to close the tab (just like I do on every other website in the world), I end up closing the forum thread I was reading, because my browser didn't open a new tab like I told it to.

 

So please fix this. I couldn't find any settings in my profile to disable it. I'd hate to forbid atariage.com in noscript. In general, it is very bad practice for a web designer to override the default behavior of the user's browser of choice. I need middle-click-opens-new-tab to live. That your forum software disables it for images makes it very unpleasant to use.
