I was just curious, I got mine for my Atari Ste and STf which is great but are the in any way compatible with any other computer or console? Thanks. I've seen them used on Jaguars and on Amigas. LONG LONG TIME AGO. I believe it was the 1st-gen SC1224, by JVC with the curved back, but I COULD BE WRONG as it's been a long time. Something about "sync on green" vs "sync on composite" or something (you can tell I don't know anything technical here, can't you) like that with differences amongst the models (JVC, Goldstar, Samsung) of the SC1224. It seems to me that I remember that the only the JVC model SC1224 would work on the Amiga, but I could be wrong. There must be some sync issues, as remember (I think) reading somewhere that the Amiga puts out both composite sync and separate horizontal/vertical sync, while Apple IIgs puts out only composite sync....OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, beyond the basic "15KHz analog RGB" qualification. I merely attest to remembering others who know a lot more than I do, talking about differences in SC1224s , as in this: I haven't looked at the VBXE project but it should be noted that the Goldstar SC1224 requires separate sync signals and will not work with composite sync. It has the rectangular on / off switch. Interesting, I thought the JVC was the first model. Regardless, you can probably skip the v-sync for that monitor since, if I remember correctly, the JVC model can take c-sync. Rybags Posted January 29, 2011 Share Posted January 29, 2011 Some monitors demand seperate H/VSync, where others have it but are happy to accept Composite Sync (usually on the HSync input, sometimes both) Fairly sure the Amiga generates both type of signals, H/V and CSync are present on their monitor jack. VBXE doesn't generate any Sync, you tap that from the motherboard and it's Composite Sync only. Sync-on-Green is an entire different scheme, it piggybacks the Sync pulses onto the Green component of RGB. You can make a relatively simple circuit to generate Sync-on-Green from a normal setup, but not sure about the other way around. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've hooked it directly up to arcade PCBs and used them as an arcade monitor. It works great, with the exception of it being touchy on the vhold. I probably could have solved the problem with a sync generator chip, it ultimately it was "good enough" for what I was using it for. I currently have it hooked up to a Frogger arcade PCB. Fletch I've got to find a better source for the ST monitor connector. The ones I have are solid pins, and soldering them is difficult. I'd *love* to find some that have solder cups on the cable side!
