Everything you will ever need for the VCS/2600 homebrews can be found on my List : https://1drv.ms/x/s!...VbQayev1Wc1QprN

Wow, that is very comprehensive. Good job!

This thread really underscores the need to collaborate on a controller design to remove the controller constraints on the homebrewers.

A decent joystick. 2 or three action buttons (no more), a trac ball and a paddle and/or spinner could be incorporated into a two plug cable for the VCS all the while being uncluttered and affordable.  I'd love to manufacture them.

If I build it, will they come?

Sounds cool! Now if it looks cool and is under $100, I'm pretty sure it will be a hit.

As a parts kit with assembly instructions, it could probably be around $100. A cheaper version could require the user to provide their own housing, cables, and fasteners, for example.

Bug fixes, faster Y, all of the fun. ;)

Omegamatrix,

I was thinking about this hack the other day, and got to thinking about the GCC Millipede version. Would it be possible to hack that version to work with the trak-ball too?

Millipede can be found at any of these:

With the GCC Millipede I would be happy just to have it in NTSC. I've done some work on it before and I know Thomas has too, but neither of us have done anything for the trackball.

I just took a look and I have a rom I made that got it down to about 290-291 lines on the playing screen. So still not very good. If we could get it down to around 272-280 it would be better, but I don't know if we could ever get it to 262 very easily.

Anyhow I'm working on too many things right now to really even take a look, unfortunately.

Wow! This is awesome!

For those who know nothing about assembly language, but know a little about BASIC, once the latest beta version of batari Basic is all fixed up, you'll be able to make your own Atari 2600 games that have better graphics:

  • Support for 10 multicolored sprites (player0-player9)
    _
  • Asymmetric multicolored playfield, any resolution.
    _
  • Simultaneous single line background and foreground colors.
    _
  • Playfield allows independent resolution control for each 8-pixel column.
    _
  • Use of extra RAM in DPC+ (extra 256k can only be used for data).
