How about a Funsoft theme? Flak, Snokie, and Time Runner (I prefer the disk releases). I think a month might be too long, though, for those.

This sounds pretty Fun (and soft too) - If Atari UK doesnt work out I vote for this!

...but I am willing to emu the ones that are PAL-only.

You're willing to "emu" them? That could get tricky.

Be sure to indicate (due to my investment in artificial dumbness) if the games are a regular 5 for a poll or a set for the theme round #10 folks...

Themes so far:
Vertical Scrollers (a8isa1)
Water Slaughter (trbb)
Something to do with Fire (Sloopy)
Games from 1981 (Sloopy)
Atari UK? (orpheus)
Funsoft (Fres)
I'll add 'up the creek' for a paddles games selection too and 'I h(e)a®t(e) Smiley Faces for Mr.Amiga500' ;)

Regular rounds :?:
Mr.A (round 6)
BrianC...

how about calling it 'to the principals office' for the paddle games? :'D

or wasnt everyone like me and got the paddle everytime i visited the big D?

and also how about a theme called 'Have you played your Atari today?'
any 5 games played on a real A8... anything from 400 to XEGS...
or any game played in a previous HSC, 1 point for playing, 2 points for beating 8th place. (as many games as you want with a max of 10 points, and a bonus point for most different games played overall, and another bonus point most games played getting 2pts).

sloopy.

You didn't notice that all of the games in my last post are shooters? I was trying for a shmupish theme. I was thinking of a theme with Missile Command and Final Legacy for war type games, but I'm not sure about other games with similar themes and most of them probably aren't good for a HSC.

Another idea for a theme. Try and guess it:
Defender
Missile Command
Super Breakout
Pac-Man
Space Invaders

I also thought of a Nintendo theme:
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Popeye
Mario Bros.
Dr. Mario

Final Legacy isn't too involved, could add Tank Commander, Beach Head I/II and maybe Raid Over Moscow :)

Hey, why was the Round 6 poll thread closed? It says the closing date is April 10. I just checked my calendar and it's not April 10 yet - not even in your time zone.
(I've got the "Goats 2011" calendar - one fancy goat per month.)

Mine is Atari (UK)... We can swap some games in and out for that if there are some that just dont run at all on NTSC, although that may have to be an emu round...

Funsoft is Fres pick, I just seconded it.

How about a Prototype theme?
Only games that were not officially released, such as IXION from last year's HSC, or Jr. Pac-Man, Super Pac-Man, and Crystal Castles which were never released officially as far as I know. Of course, I don't know much, so they might have all been released. But the proto theme idea could be used to include many good games that never were officially launched.
