Regional TI-Treff in Germany

Well yesterday the annual regional TI treff took place in Birkenau Germany. This is the third time I visited the regional TI treff

and the weather was perfect, just as in the previous years.

I saw many familiar faces and a few new ones. It was fun meeting kl99 and his brother. It was the first time I met a fellow Atariager in person.

Now how cool is that.

There were some TI-99/4A computers to see and some heavily moddded SNUG TI EVPC's. They look quite interesting because they are in custom PC cases.

If you don't look at the screen output, you won't recognize they are a TI-99/4A at all.

There was no official program so you had plenty of time to check out what is going on. I had some very interesting technical discussions with

Michael Zapf (the MESS developer) and Fred Kaal (creator of TI-Dir, emulator and many interesting TI software and hardware projects).

So yeah, got my share of tech talk yesterday.

As far as the demos go. I saw some interesting MESS demos and there was a cool demo of Powertran Cortex Basic running on the TI-99/4A.

Compared to TI-Basic/Extended Basic, this BASIC interpreter runs fast and has some interesting graphic plot commands.

Thanks to kl99 and some other fellow TI-99'ers I had plenty of TI stuff to take home: A monitor, many tech documents as TI-Intern,

Editor/Assembler manual, magazines, cartridges, replacement keyboards, ...

Let see if kl99 can chime in and share with us what he took home. I've seen his fully expanded PEB box with ramdisks and other funny stuff.

This years' international TI-Treff is scheduled for taking place in Rome, Italy.

Most like there will be no regional TI-Treff next year, but the idea is to do an international TI-Treff in Münich Germany.

I won't make it to this years International TI Treff in Italy and there's quite some time until Next years' international TI-Treff.

I've been toying with the idea of setting up a small regional meeting in the area of Ludwigshafen/Mannheim Germany.

If I do that I also would like to see some Colecovision and MSX friends.

We'll see how it goes, it's just a crazy idea for now :D

....I would have liked to be there too! :(

I would have loved to meet all you in person ...

I spoke with Ermanno Betori (the person that wants to organize TI-Treff in Italy this year) and he told me that is still working for the organization ...

I hope he will be able to organize it well and that there is good participation ...

I do not know the program chosen by mr. Betori and I hope it is full of things :D

Whatever happens, I promise that one day be able to stay in a TI-treff in Germany, a gift that I make myself absolutely ...also becouse i never visited Germany :D

also this will be a rematch from my things that I have always dreamed since I was a kid;)

I am only worried about losing some good notion because of my low knowledge of English ...

Nice (better than one room with all booked talks). Personally I love parallel sessions, like one demo, one discussion and a general mingle area. But also, I hate when people come and go constantly - during sessions, sit around with their mumbling, papers, bonbons, mobiles and stuff. Well, life ...

Report on the TI-Meeting - Birkenau, Germany 2011

Dear friends,

The german TI-Club Errorfree invited to a regional TI meeting for the 2nd of April 2011. My brother Reinhard and me attended.

On our travel from Vienna, Austria, we did stop near munich, where we had a meeting with Helmut Fiedler, who donated us a giant TI-99 collection. He quit the hobby over 5 years ago and gave us really everything without asking anything for it. A big thank you again!

With a well-stocked car we arrived in the early evening hours in Birkenau in the ancient inn "Zum Engel". It was a really nice evening with Klaus T, Annette and Oliver A.

On the next morning we all shared a big breakfast. It was a warm welcome of the arriving club members. Everybody knows each other or the connection is quickly made. While some were still enjoying their breakfast, others were starting to build up their setup. The official part of the meeting was set for 9am. to 4pm. - in our eyes it went by far too quick.

We counted a total of 22 attendees. There were times where we were short of space but the unbelievable nice weather did let you communicate outside as well.

Reinhard and me did find lucky guys who wanted our duplicate magazines and hardware-parts from Helmut Fiedler. Bernhard L did arrive with big boxes full of TI Stuff for donation. The collectors searched through with visual pleasure. We were among them of course and our car was fully laden afterwards!

No matter how nice it is to collect TI stuff, it is the friendships who arised from the shared hobby, which makes the attraction to come again to the TI-meetings.

Photos will be placed on the upcoming website www.ti99.at

Friday, 30th September to 2th October will be held the international TI Meeting in Rom, Italy. The next regional TI-Meeting 2012 of the Club Errorfree will be localized between Munich and Augsburg.

Klaus
