This weekend I picked up:

* A 6-switch woody with a dozen common games + a HES pack and Donkey Kong. Untested. (paid too much)

* A Nintendo Game and Watch: Mario Brothers. No sound. (A$5)

* A Sinclair Spectrum ZX with Interface 1, a Microdrive, four tapes and a joystick adapter (not Interface 2). Can't get a stable picture. (A$3)

* An original 8-bit SoundBlaster. This is for my Amstrad PC-20 I found recently. Untested. (A$5)

I found an overpriced 2600 system at a flea market that I hadn't been to before, and in the box with it were a few things I bought:

a small sheet with yellow printing on clear labels naming all of the earlier 2600 Atari games (there are three of the game names missing)--did this come with the binder/folder cartridge holder?

a "Atari Super Service" (comic) placard from 1980 with Superman in an Atari outfit touting great service for broken consoles, etc.

from 1983 a 2600 Trak-Ball brochure that is titled, "Roll With The Action!" with some Centipede artwork over a photo of the forthcoming controller.

and last but not least an orange Top Gun cartridge that is probably for an NES type of top loader--don't know for sure about that since i don't have one. The label says "LF53" on the front and there is a blue end label that says "Top Gun" and has some Chinese writing as well. It looks like it says "CHI" in the molded logo. It even has a poorly written back label that calls the cartridge a cassette.

Found tons of losse Atari games at my local flea market.

Unfortunately most I already had.

Picked up Warplock for 2600 and Rampage & Double Dragon for 7800 for $2 apiece.

Also picked up a couple boxed complete (one still sealed) Corpse Killers for Sega x32 and A sealed 3D0 baseball game. $1 a piece.

It was 50% off day at the local Value Village, and the place was just packed! I hit the electronics section and found a Coleco Gemini controller for $2.00 (Canadian).

I had found a Gemini console many years ago, but I did not have the special controller until now.

*All* game controllers are normally priced at $3.99 -- everything from original NES stock controllers to fairly new PC joysticks.

I got a big find today. And I found out I have a little competition too

but because I buy a lot more than him (some weelchair dude) The thrift

owners have put my name and number down :D so they can call me when

new stuff comes in :D

Anyway my finds:

NES lose (Against my CIB policy but it was too many to pass up at $2 each :) )

Mario Bros.

Astyanax

Robocop 2

Alpha Mission

Bayou Billy

Super Spy Hunter

Mike Tysons Punch-Out

Rush'N Attack

Exitebike (already have a manual ;) )

Super mario 3 :D

Ferrari Grand Prix Challange

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles :D :D :D

Life force salamander

and 4 boxed Intellivision games ($1 each)

Well, my long thrift draught is over.

Went to Goodwill today and got the following for $14.95:

  • 2600 (Vader) w/2 joysticks, paddles, power & 2 r/fs

"Tele-Games Center"

26 games w/ instructions:

  • Asteroids

Basketball[/b][/i] (1987)

Bridge

Casino (1986)

Chopper Command (blue label/b&w inst.)

Combat (duh.)

Crystal Castles

Defender

Demon Attack

Enduro

Frogger

Grand Prix

Ice Hockey

Jungle Hunt

Kaboom (b&w inst)

Keystone Kapers

Missile Command

Pac-Man (double duh)

RealSports Football

RealSports Volleyball

Skiing

Sky Jinks

Stampede

Starmaster

Super Challenge Baseball

Tennis

Plus four of those 'leather' cart cases Atari used to make. One was cut to accomodate the Super Challenge Baseball and Demon Attack carts, but my Cuttle Cart should fit nicely.

Whoever owned this stuff kept it in real good condition, for the most part. There was even a letter from Atari stating that certain games the owner wanted to buy were unavailable, dated May 17, 1989. Atari included an order form and a list of what was still available at that time. (Also "Coming Soon": Double Dunk, Secret Quest, Off The Wall, Road Runner.)

Overall a nice haul for a trip that I made on the spur of the moment.

The momentary distraction of Dr. Acula gave him time to locate one of the many secret doors in the draped room.

Today I walked into a pawn shop, spent $25 and walked out with...

80 2600 games, mostly dirty and common but highlights included a "The year 1999",GI Joe Color label,'RAIDERS LOST ARK' label variation, and an Activision Checkers.

16 Colecovision games, highlights were: Mr do's castle,Congo Bongo,Miner,Burgertime.

3 7800 games, all dirt common.

99 games for $25 is one hell of a deal now a days. This is the best find I've had in years!

Nice score, especially when you include those CV games. Congrats!

Yesterday I found something really interesting: An early Brazilian Atari 2600 clone, probably one of the first models made by Dactar. I never saw this model before. The case is painted with black ink instead of using black plastic. It also looks to be made of fiberglass or something like that.

Good day. Not only did I score a free Atari Jr. with 20 games and accessories, but I got a call from one of my "sources" and she had some stuff come in today so for $10 bucks I picked up:

2 NES's with Super Mario (of course), Metroid, and Tetris, 2 guns, two controllers, 1 NES max controller, a SNES controller with a 4 controller superlink box

1 Genesis, the newer compact version with two controllers

1 Tandy Coco 2 computer

2 Atari type joysticks with two buttons, they're called "TAC-2" by a company called Suncom.

Not bad after a month long dry spell.

I had a decent find today. Got all of this for $25 total (and I left quite a bit of stuff behind.)

Atari 2600 (all loose)

Alien

Commando Raid

Activision Decathlon

Mario Brothers

Skate Boardin

Sears text Space Invaders

2x Towering Inferno

Popeye

Taz (end label missing)

Squeeze Box

Winter Games

NES (cart only, but with plastic cases)

Mickey's Mouscapade

Target Renegade

RC ProAM II

Donkey Kong Classics

SNES (cart only)

Street Fighter 2 Turbo

Sega CD (complete, boxes in poor to excellent condition)

2x Corpse Killer

Supreme Warrior

World Cup USA 94

NFL's Greatest Teams

Tomcat Alley

Prize Fighter

Dragon's Lair

Bill Walsh College Football

NBA Hangtime 95

Samurai Showdown

Lords of Thunder

Sega 32x (complete)

36 Great Holes

And another Panasonic FZ-1 3do with controller (bringing me up to 3 3do systems and 1 playable game.)

I guess that I need to go find a Sega CD system now that I have a ton of games for it (couldn't say no for .50 ea.)

I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of the small hole in the wall thrift shops. I find the best stuff at those places. Goodwill and the other big places will have stuff on occasion, but it seems like every time I find one of these little places, they have great stuff at unbeatable prices. :)

I'll have to stop back at this place next time I'm out that way and clean out the rest of their decent stuff. :)

Man... i need to go thrifting so bad...

I actaully found Barnstorming and Space Voyage at a local thrift store a couple years back for 3 bucks total. they also had, no exxageration, 15-20 NES, probably as many genesis too. I think i saw a top loading NES there too. but that was long before i had a strong interest inc ollecting, so i didn`t know what the heck i found.

But i`m quite excited about something else i just figured out from Kepone's post earlier about finding Dudes With Attitude for the NES. i have one in almost mint condition, just a minor tear on the back label, and has a previous movie rental store label on the back too. easily removed i beleive. I didn`t get it at a thrift store though, it was K-Mart actually(though it basically is one now =p). I think it was $6 or so... Wow, this is the first rare game i own!!!!

I picked mine up for $3.99 at Gamestop and the label isn't in perfect condition but the cart is in good shape. It's not THAT rare but it is somewhat rare. I also have 2 other American Video cartridges that are as rare as the first.

You gotta stay one step ahead of everyone else. That's the key to being a successful collector. When I saw those carts, I swiped them up with no questions asked. I actually want to play them if I can get my NES to work someday. A lot of NES games I picked up are games that I enjoyed when I was younger.

You just gotta be quick and smart.

I`m planning on hitting some flea markets and thrift stores later in the week. and since i`m going out of town next week, i`ll hit some there too.

I understand about getting the NES games that were enjoyed in years past. I have thinned my collection of games and got sold the cheap, not very good games in order to get all the ones that i played and loved when i was younger. My first goal in collecting is to get all the games that i have attachments too from playing in the past, then i`ll move on to the rarer stuff.

I go for the stuff I enjoyed and I also frequent the NES rarity guide and if something I see is considered rare, I just snatch it up.

I really want the following NES games though:

-Mario Bros

-Spy Hunter

-Blaster Master

-River City Ransom

I need to find these as well as MANY other NES games. I enjoyed so many of them. I already have close to 40 NES games.

I had a good find yesterday - a cart holder and approx. 20 manuals, most of which I didn't already have; suprisingly Kaboom! and Freeway among them. It also had an Atari Log Book and a 1983 Activision Games catalogue. :D A few common carts thrown in for good measure that'll end up on my trade page probably. :D

something strange about your list Kepone. I`ve own(ed) all of those. I sold Mario Bros. cause i got sick of it, and i was going to get the Mario Bros. Duckhunt game and a light gun, just never have though. And i sold blaster master quite awhile ago. Not sure why though. I did pick up the sequel the other day though. Though i never owned River City, i used to play all that time at friends houses. I dunno, i always liked the sheer simpliness and brutaliy of Renegade over RCR. Which i finally did pick Renegade up a few weeks ago.

I just went to the flea market the other day and saw a stack of 2600 games all in pretty crappy condition for $2 a piece, titles like River Raid, Pac-Man, Raiders, Cosmic Ark, the few I can think of off-hand, but didn't purchase them

And in the CF tradition here's a short story:

When I was about 10 years old I had to work (well actually I spent the day running around and taking things I wanted :) ) at a surplus sale the trucking company my dad was working for had, and they had a whole shelf of Atari 2600's and games. Needless to say we greatly increased our library that day. :D Too bad my father loves to throw things away :x

If you need River Raid or Pac-Man, let me know. One's on my trade list and one isn't, but I'll sell you both for the same you would have paid for either one seperately.. only downside is I'd need shipping cost too. :(

Not exactly a thrift find but tonight I found a Sega Genesis 1 with 7 games(6 boxed) and 3 controllers and the other connections for $20 in a CD resale shop. Not too steep but the guy wouldn't separate the games so I just bought the whole thing.

I think I'm gonna have to unload some Genesis stuff soon. I'm making a trade page in a week or two so I will let everyone know. I only want the games cuz I have 4 Genesis systems...2 of them work great and the other 2 work but you have to fix the part where the A/C Adaptor connects to or otherwise you have to adjust it constantly so it works right. If anyone's interested, they can PM me right off. I might end up unloading only 1 system but it all depends. I have no extra games so I won't be able to include games with the systems.
