Took Zylon's suggestion:

for a modest bump:

Hopefully I will have more time the final two nights to break that 70K / 10th Wave barrier I'm bumping against.

And I have to say, of the two varieties, I much prefer the title screen on Stargate to Defender II. That ship is sweet!

calling all 2600 HSC players!

* Double Score Dungeon - This week, scoring is extended... First place will get 22 points, second place 21 points, ..., 20th place gets 3 points, and everyone else gets 2 points.

Remember even if you finish in 20th place that's still 3 points.

Anything below 20th place is still 2 points.

Finally cleared 10... didn't realize my humanoids had repopulated the planet until it was too late, dying in valiant defense of what I thought was my last little buddy. Now I see how 100K+ is possible with a new round of potential bonuses.

Anyways, I'm definitely in the realm of diminishing returns now, and my double-thick joystick is producing one wicked blister on my palm, so I'm calling it for the night with another marginal improvement:

I've been travelling a lot lately for work so I haven't had a lot of time to play Atari.

I do have a 2600 emulator for Android on my phone but prefer using a real console.

Not bad for a kid playing for the first time. This game is hard! I had to enlist my dad as gunner on the second controller.

Keep goin! Once you get the hang of the flying and can rescue the little guys out of the air and put them back on the ground, your scores will go up quick.

Phew! This score here is about all I got left in me! Later levels, well, SCREW trying to save anyone. I just bail ass, laser blasting, and then once enough of the ships are behind me and I start to gain on them, I quickly swing around and blast them, repeating until gone. Worked quite well. As before, I didn't use a single smart bomb. Worthless.

Nice scores guys. Again the scores this time around much better than last time. BTW,I have no problem using the smart bomb with my toe or elbow but using the invisibility is very cumbersome.

THAT'S INCREDIBLE, TOYMAILMAN!! CONGRATULATIONS!!
YOUR SCORE IS HIGHER THAN I EXPECTED!!

And here's my score on Extreme Settings in Stargate, just for statistics (1 LIFE ONLY, WITHOUT USING SMART BOMBS AND INVISOES) - 71,400

Broke 50,000! Yeah! I'm happy with my little victory.

I might be able to catch the six-figure folks in three or four years, if I quit my job and just play this game every day. Then again, maybe not even then. :D

 Nice job, Mailman, Oyama, Stan, and anybody else that breaks 6figs before the night is over.

Not racing the clock for a final score tonight: I'm just not good enough!
IMG_1797.JPG

Congrats to all who rocked this one out. Fun, tough game. I'll admit this has been in my collection for awhile without much action, since the dual joystick trouble always intimidated me somewhat. A toe on the floor works fine for smartbombs only, but I prefer being able to access both inviso and bombs with an over-under coupling (with the trade-off that the massive controller body becomes quite painful to grasp for very long, even with large hands). I really enjoyed playing the inertia of the ship, building up some momentum and a trail of baddies, then whipping around to snipe them as while flying backwards...

Given how far down the ranks I've fallen today, I'm definitely going to need that corrected score from last week for an extra point :) !
