roadrunner
No Hacks! It has to be the original game.
toptenmaterial
I agree. Jr Pac, I appreciate your participation. Please resubmit a score from the original game. Thanks.
Jr. Pac
Hmmm... I don't know what the concencus on hacks is. Can you provide a score from the regular version, to clarify any ambiguity? Here's the hack. Just compare it. The gameplay is exactly the same. It's just a minor graphical hack. Nothing else changed. allfruitsfixed.bin

Crimefighter
I cry foul...188K using the one-ghost game selection...no way. It smells that he also has a banana fruit on the SECOND MAZE. Edited June 14, 2011 by Crimefighter

toptenmaterial
If we all just use the regular game, be it a cart or emulation, then there is no ambiguity or grey area. It also means that the authenticity of your score cannot be challenged. Having disputes over various hacks and ports erodes the integrity of the contest. If you were able to achieve a succession of high scores before, then you'll be able to do it again. Best of luck. If you were able to achieve a succession of high scores before, then you'll be able to do it again. Best of luck. FWIW, my unbiased opinion being an HSC moderator not participating in this contest: There are many games in MAME that you'll see are e.g. "Set 1," "Set 2" etc. There may be minor differences in these games but they are different nonetheless. Although the HSCs are strictly an honor system, we do what is feasible to get the players on a level playing field. Although the original post did not specify that hacks were prohibited, it may have been simply due to the fact that it was not common knowledge that there were graphic hacks of Ms. Pac-Man - which I didn't know existed. Judging by the player's screenshot, the game was played in emulation. Therefore, there was no reason not to play the official release of 2600 Ms. Pac-Man. So, my ruling : it is not the same cartridge or ROM to be used in this competition therefore the score gets tossed out. EDIT: BTW - CMA and explicitly define the game/rom and difficulty settings in the future. Edited June 14, 2011 by rmaerz

Crimefighter
The score was toss-able simply because he played the ONE TEDDY BEAR variation.
Jr. Pac
OK. I admit, those WERE hacked versions. Here's a legit score from the original game, not my hacked ones. Go ahead and toss those scores.

NE146
So how many stages are you guys able to survive through after the first banana stage to get those scores? Or are or are you just lucky to keep getting banana or pear stages after that? It sucks because every time I pass the banana stage I get a good half dozen stages with friggin low scoring fruit, and you have to clear all of them (with fast ghosts & low blue time) for only a piddly score for each. That's the thing about Ms. Pacman.. the scoring at the later stages of the game is a lot of luck. Edited June 15, 2011 by NE146
toptenmaterial
1st: Crimefighter 198,721 2nd: Jr Pac 180,140 3rd: Deteacher 129,170 I believe Crime Fighter technically holds more than 1st place. For the sake of getting as many people involved as possible, I am going to limit place designations to one per person. At any rate Crime Fighter is in the lead!!
