So I was going through my Atari 2600 game collection and I noticed that I had 2 different version of pac-man both atari and sears versions. Now I know they have made the same games, but I was wondering if anyone on here had a list of them? So I could keep track of differnt game variations.

Also, do ppl collect both versions? Or would one copy from either be ok?

That list includes 3 games that were never release by Atari: Steeplechase, Stellar Track and Submarine Commander.

This thread has a list of only the Sears/Atari equivalents that had different names.

There are people who do it both ways. I've always wanted one of each. Back in the day, my brother only wanted one or the other. Other people want one of each label variation (text & picture and other slight differences). So just decide what will make you happy and go for it. There is no real need to have both versions as long as the ROMs are the same. Here's a thread about games (Atari brand) with the same name, but different ROMs.

I'm still undecided if I'm gonna collect both. Maybe I will only if I run into both and won't actually try to collect both....i dunno lol.

I think so far I have 4 or 5 games that I have both copies to.

When I was collecting, I'd only keep the rarest version of any given cart.  For example, if I had the Atari pic label Space Invaders and I came across the Sears Text label, I'd put that into my collection and put the Atari pic label into my dupes pile.

But that's just me.

It isn't as simple as one picture label and one text label. There are a variety of both. One picture label could be more rare than another of the same game and same goes for text labels. I try to collect them all and only consider it a duplicate if the label and cart mold are identical in every way.

Yeah I agree with Schizo. I have several atari and sears dups, but I treat each variation as it's own seperate game.

I do collect one of each though I primarily look for the Sears variants. I especially prefer the Sears number/text labels. They're real handy to play since the variations are listed in greater detail on the labels.
