I'm planning to head to San Antonio tomorrow after work. A friend from there and I plan to head up to Austin on Saturday the 23rd to check out Pinballz! Anybody else care to meet us there?

There's a slight chance that this will be delayed to next weekend.

I might be there in the evening; the wife and I usually go every weekend. We really need to get memberships...

Not sure yet, but I'll keep that in mind. He's got a newbie, recently turned 1 - I don't know if his wife & kid are coming along or if it's Daddies Day Out. I'll post when I know more.

No, I haven't had an opportunity to play with one of those yet, so would be cool to see it. :)

Thanks,

..Al

It's a go!

I was waiting on a package to arrive that I need to take care of for my folks (they live in Africa now). It was sent via FedEx from dad's corporate office (also located in Houston) on the 19th. It should have arrived yesterday, but FedEx's site showed it never left their facility as "Package not due for delivery". It had an delivery date of the 22nd, so I was concerned I'd have to take care of it for them on Saturday.

Glad you were able to make it! Thanks for bringing the iCade so I could play with it. Very cool device and interesting to see how it started as an April Fool's joke on ThinkGeek and ultimately became a reality.

Don't put any money in Starship Troopers; it's all kinds of screwed up!

Good to know. We really liked the martian pinball machine, the one with the video overlay that you interact with.

They have pinball machines other than Fire!, Taxi, and Diner? I never would have known! ;)

In my experience at the arcade, Sega pinball machines have been the most troublesome and unreliable pins in the entire arcade. This includes:

- Starship Troopers
- Independence Day
- Godzilla
- Apollo 13 (which may never even return to the floor it's so problematic)
- X-Files
- Twister (constant problems with two different machines)

Data East machines aren't much better (Sega bought Data East's pinball business in 1994).

Nope, I wasn't working that evening. And this is the second time he's been in the arcade. The first time I was there but didn't hear about it until after the fact. What the heck!

Revenge from Mars. Great pin, but it felt too much like a video game. Attack from Mars is a better pinball. :)

A friend's art is going to be on display at Co-Lab. The exhibit opens tomorrow night, so I'm heading to Austin for the day. I plan to hit Pinballz when I get in town, sometime between 3 & 4.
