Las Vegas Craps?

Recommended Posts

Of course, one might argue that LVC would've been redundant, since Las Vegas Roulette already is crap(s) on a cart. :D There aren't too many Mattel releases that I'm less interested in playing. LVR would've actually made a little more sense as a 2-in-1 roulette/craps game, but then I suppose you get into overlay issues.

I believe the game was planned and it said in catalogs that it was coming up, but it was never released. I don't think any work was ever started on it.

Huh, that's almost exactly the opposite of what the Blue Sky Rangers page (linked above) says, i.e. that it was never announced, but was finished and paid for. Do you have any catalog scans that mention it?

Isn't there mention of it or a picture on one of the Master Component boxes you have?

I wondered about that when I saw this thread bumped. I'm out of town so I had to search for my post about the serial #111 box. The box has Las Vegas Roulette and Slots mentioned but I don't think it mentions craps at all.

In a 1979 demo video you can see a cartridge labelled "Las Vegas Roulette, Craps & Slots". That must have been the plan at Mattel at one point. I wonder what happened, not enough room on the cartridge, Craps wasn't good enough, Craps wasn't ready in time? Is Intellivisionlives assuming the game was completed because APh was paid for the work? I heard Intellivision Productions also has one of those early console boxes that might list this cartridge with a description. It's not in any dealer or consumer catalog that I know of.

In 1980 these casino games weren't a bad idea. They could have been used to learn and practice these games before going to an actual casino, but they have to be accurate. Intellivision Blackjack is missing key features like splitting, insurance, and most importantly a fixed number of card decks and dealer shoe (practice card counting). Roulette limits you to only three bets. Craps looks complicated, it would be interesting to see Intellivision's version.

If anyone has played the Hoyle Casino game, or others like it, where you have all the casino games all-in-one, that'd be nice for Inty, so you can go game to game using the same wallet for all the games. And of course adding more games to choose from is always desirable.

And if the cart has the save function then that'd be sweet, too, so your wallet is never lost; well losing all your money is par for the course, so let's say your wallet is not reset between gaming sessions.

Don't worry, Super Pro Slots will appear some day. ;)

And given the ROM space we have available, you just never know.

Yay! You've got lots of time until PRGE! Rev can start ordering the boxes now and Mthompson can get the manual and OL's done in no time. Awesome news! :)
