1997: DoDonPachi

1998: Raiden Fighters Jet

:)

That's it?

Actually, I'm having a hard time finding games that work!

I wouldn't mind changing the tournament to 1996-2000 + 5 game manufacturer challenge but I'll see what others think. And if we go with a manufacturer's challenge, the manufacturer would be Data East.

I'm also having problems choosing games.

I was waiting for RoadRunner choices before making mine!! I thing it's RoadRunner favorite "era".

I'm in for 5 games + Data East.

5 games from 1996-2005.

Well I know a few from that era, but I don't have one for every year. Mostly Top Down shooters and Metal Slug though.

In Order

1996 Metal Slug(mslug)

1997 DoDonPachi(ddonpach)

1999 Giga Wing (gigawing)

1998 Metal Slug 2(mslug2)

2000 Dimahoo (dimahoo)

2002 Metal Slug 4 (mslug4)

2003 Metal Slug 5 (mslug5)

I have a good selection from 96-00 though :) I guess we can go with 96-00 +5. I could come up with 2 games from each of those years though. Mostly because there was a Metal Slug released just about every year :P Ohohoho! We could do 96-00 +5 Neo Geo games maybe since there were pretty prevalent in those years.

I'll make a decision by noon EDT Tuesday whether to go forward with a 96-05 tourney or 96-00 w/ 5 game Data East challenge (I think the latter is likely unless there is strong opposition to this).

In my version of MAME, there were only two games listed for 2005.

You gonna take suggestions on the Data East games too?

B

If that's the route we go, then we'll do

nominate 5 games from 1996-2000 (one for each year)

&

nominate any 5 Data East games

I'll wait until roadrunner opines or noon EDT tomorrow whichever comes first.

At that late of era, it was a super difficult time picking games. That was/is the era of Fighters/Racers/Light gun/Rhythm games. The only thing that popped to mind were shmups (Like DoDonPachi).

1996: Metal Slug

1997: DoDonPachi

1998: Raiden Fighters Jet

1999: GigaWing

2000: 1944 - The Loop Master

5 Data East Games:

Bump 'n Jump

Burgertime

Lock 'n Chase

Side Pocket

Battle Wings

I couldn't find the rom for Metal Slug 5 :(

I have it but I couldn't find a link. The thing is pretty big though. 77MB

I still can't come up with anything 04-05. But if we did, would we just have a lot of metal slugs and top down shooters? I'd like a little variety. Maybe some of that old school Data East lovin is a good idea to spice things up a bit.

I use Romnation mostly but I don't see it there. I've had it for a while and don't remember where I got it.

To get back on track, are you going to suggest any Data East games RR?
