It's best to not even use the trap doors on Lock N Chase.
Lock N Chase is like Pac Man, collect the dots and the prizes in the center of the screen that shows up a couple times per level. After you collect all the dots, leave the screen at the top opening to move on to the next level. :)

I was wondering if anybody could clear something up for me on Lock N Chase. Is there any way to control where the little red door pops up when you hit the button? Half the time I use it, it puts a door right in front of me and I trap myself and die.

The door only appears where two light blue line connect. (connection point)
When you press the button, the door will appear on the last connection point you crossed.(I'm not sure if this is clear enough)
Also, you can only have 2 doors at the same time.
A door will stay visible for a few seconds.

you can use the doors to slowdown the police men or to trap them for extra points. 100 for 1, 300 for 2, 1000 for 3 and 2000 for all the 4.
see image below for the trap locations.

One thing I did with Karate Champ some time ago is change the sticks to something a little better.

E I
  | |
S- -F J- -L
  | |
  D K

That has helped me a bunch.

Thanks, Pat. I don't see myself making much use of your advice because I totally suck at this game, but it's good to know. :)

When I played that at Funspot XII last year all I wanted to do was get 10 points on the damn game to qualify for the tournament. My first three scores were 0! It wasn't until someone showed me the move of taking both joysticks and moving them outward was I able to score some points.

I improved on 2 scores. I still can't get the hang of Lock n Chase even after Pat's advise. Gigawing on the other hand... well maybe I can break 1 Trillion before this one is over. The insane scoring of this game is what attracted me to it some time ago. I was browsing the TG score board and noticed this CRAZY HUGH score. The high is 26,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx. I had to find out was the game was all about. when I got a copy of the ROM I was excited to see that is was a top-down shooter.

Lock n Chase 14620
Gigawing 616,708,553,210

I also have 2 scores in post #50 that got missed :D They are at the bottom of the page.

I guess i'll have to take a look at remapping the conrols for that one. :(
I think i rather play 7800 Karateka. At least on that one after i get hit once the games over. :)

Astro Fighters. I'm proud of this one. I made it to the 4th wave. It really starts getting hairy at this point.

Very nice scores bigbee! I won't be able to keep up with Gigawing, but I plan on, on DDP. :D

It's all about not dying and catching all of the gold multiplier up. When you die or complete a level, your multiplier resets. And when a ship that fires a lot of shots comes, use your reflector to get more multipliers.

I noticed on your DDP reply you use a different technique than I do to get your hit count. I mostly use the big gun holding down the button for most of level 1 and 2. I seem to get lower hit counts when I just continuously fire. On level 3 onward, the guy that uses the spread gun seems almost necessary since the enemies seem to spawn everywhere. Maybe I just have not learned the patterns.

On the 1st 2 waves, I try to let the yellow guys spawns twice. In other words, I kill all the yellow guys but one. Let him by. Then another round of yellow guys comes. Kill them all. It's a few extra points. You may be able to do this on the later waves but I don't try it.

Question about DDP.

I have it up and running on my machine. I moved the ROM to KOJR's machine but it is not showing up on the list. Does it have a parent ROM?

Metal Slug 2 - 1,076,790

Ok. I recorded this one and uploaded the ini file for you guys to check out. There are a lot of BIG points hidden through out the levels and this will show where I have found the ones I know. I did however die on the 3rd boss costing me 200k+. Maybe next time. I am still learning that boss. I think I have it now though.

Another thing. Since I have not messed with Neo Geo's setting much, I noticed that it does not save them. In other words, the continues were still on, but if you check out the ini, you will see I didn't continue. The rest of the settings for this game are default at least.

Anywho, have a look :) I gotta find my bed now.
