Out of place Power Supply

Chaos Protocol

Recommended Posts

I have come across a mystery power supply in my many boxes of 8-bit. It's the same exact size as the standard 1050 drive power supply, but it has a different shaped top with the Atari logo (no Warner Communications Company text) and the wires come out of both sides like the computer power units, not both cables out of one side like other disk drives. Also, the power rating is different

1050 source: Mystery Source

Part #:C017945 Part #:CA014748

Input: Output Input: Output:

120v 9V AC 120 VAC 9 VAC

60Hz 31 VA 60 Hz 15.9 VA

50W 20W

the power jacks are identical (both fit the 1050)

Also, the Mystery Source has "Atari Inc. Sunnyvale, CA" on the bottom

The higher amp supplies were for the disk drives. When an 810 would first start up (especially the latter ones with data seperators and new analog boards) they would exceed the supply output with the high motor spindle and stepper in rush currents.
