In many cases they look much more yellowed on picture when it was taken inside the house using an artificial light source. There is also the opposite effect, where using a flash can bleach the image making it look a LOT better than it really does. From looking at it, I'd say the previous owner was not only a frequent user of the machine, but chainsmoked while they used it.
