S1500
Interesting. An arcade consisting of classic(*and a few 90s) video games is opening up in Minneapolis. This used to be near the twin cities' first "cyber cafe" and on the same block we had a "gaming cafe" me & a few friends were good in with the owners of. http://rqarcade.com Opening next month. Will be checking it out with friends. No pinball, sadly. Their games: Asteroids Burgertime Centipede Crystal Castles Defender Dig-Dug Doneky Kong (2 of them!) Donkey Kong Junior Duck Hunt Frogger Galaga Joust* Mario Bros. Ms. Pac-Man Popeye Q*Bert Rampage Space Invaders Deluxe Street Fighter Alpha 3 Tempest Track & Field So, when are us twin cities locals gonna hit this up? Madaracs
Should be opening soon so I'm up for a trip.
S1500
I'll round up the locals as soon as I get back from Australia.
Austin
Street Fighter Alpha 3 seems a little out of place considering the rest of the games. Always good to see new arcades opening, regardless though.
IAMAMRA
Sounds interesting...I might have to make a trip over to see it.
+save2600
The name 'Rusty Quarters' isn't exactly painting a very good picture, but awesome to see yet another classic arcade spring up. Best of luck to 'em!
acelkin
Nice selection of games! I'm a few hours south in Des Moines so I definitely will be venturing up there to check it out. Thanks for the link/info.
cparsley
Acelkin, is that Nickels place still there in Des Moines? Been a while since been back there?
Mockduck
Nice! Wish I lived in Minnesota again, I'd love to stop by this place.
7800Lover
I don't live anywhere near MN - but it is refreshing to hear someone's opening up an arcade. The arcade faces many challenges nowadays...but that's a whole other thread...
ed1475
I never heard of this place until today. TCL ran a story on it . They aren't doing very well and it looks like they need to raise $3000 by June 8th or they will close. I'm going to try to get over there this weekend. Aired today May 31, 2012 on TCL. http://youtu.be/C3O7CyBLaH8 Interview with the owner March 6, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkGBAYlzVn8 Edited May 31, 2012 by ed1475
Rex Dart
That's what happens when you accept counterfeit iron quarters.
simbalion
Man, would be nice to get some actual classic arcades opening up around this wasteland we call Ohio. Of course we always have Amish Country for the tourists don't we? Feh... Anyways, I wish any new arcades opening up the best of luck. I get my coin op fix at DeLeo's pizza in Oakdale/Woodbury- it's closer. yep according to their site they just squeaked in at $3008. ed1475
They raised $3008 in 21 days. The story below aired on the local news tonight. It's not mentioned in the story but according to their facebook page they added a Tron machine today. I'm going to need to get over there again soon. http://www.kstp.com/article/12303/?vid=3612400&v=1 Edited July 14, 2012 by ed1475

VectorGamer
...aaand it's closing this Thursday. Seriously? I remember they had a fundraiser not too long ago to stay open. Did they ever get out of the old location?
S1500
Seriously? I remember they had a fundraiser not too long ago to stay open. Did they ever get out of the old location? IIRC they had two fundraisers. That was to pay the back rent. They never got out of their old tiny location, which was hard to park around. VectorGamer
Rusty Quarters...to the surprise of nobody. As I understand it, they got themselves locked into a horrible lease. Poor planning on their part.
RJ
So did anybody (or know anybody) that got any (overpriced IMO) game(s) last Friday? Was it as big a cluster f-ck as Facebook made it sound like it'd be?
