Harrison
There are plenty of bad Atari games, but none seem to be as common as Pac-man. Combat cartridges are like pennies, but Combat is a good game, so I don't mind them. I also don't mind E.T. or other bad games that I receive less often. It's not the same with Pac-man. Every time I turn around, there's a Pac-man cartridge staring me in the face. Every lot I buy, there's like 3 Pac-man cartridges in it, unavoidably. When I sell a lot, I put Pac-man in it, and I feel bad because I'm pushing the burden along to someone else so they too can open up a box and get a bad taste in their mouth when they pick it up, and then send it off to someone else, and repeat ad infinitum. It's not the worst game ever, but the badness of the game combined with how common it is really gets me. You can't avoid it. It just keeps showing up. You send it on its way, and it shows up again. It's like being cursed.
Nukey Shay
Personally, I feel the same way about Pokémon. But it keeps selling. Go figure.

C'mon, the truth is: Pac-Man likes us and don't want to leave us alone (doing this under the pressure of 8 Pac-Man cartridges watching me from the stand )
Zonie
I had it before everyone. It was due out on such and such a date, in a few weeks. My buddies and I called all the stores every day. Then one day I was at Sears with my dad, and while he was buying a TV, I wandered over to the tele-games kiosk to play a game... There it was for $19.99. He bought it for me since he was buying a nice new TV for his den, Not replacing the shitty TV in the family room... What a let down. I was not a Pac Man fanatic, but I did like the game. I sold it to one of my teachers about a week later for that same $20 and bought something else. Air-Sea Battle if I recall... I still love that game. It WAS fun showing up at school that next monday morning with PacMan in hand. I found Donkey Kong kinda the same way. Wasn't supposed to be out yet, but Smitty's (a large local Grocery store something like a super Target) had it. Rom Collector
I played Pac-man in the arcades before it came out on the 2600 VCS. When it was released, my parents bought it for me, and when I got it home I was like WTF? I knew the Atari didnt usually look as good as the original arcade version, but this was the pits. The flicker of the ghosts made them hard to see. The maze was wack, tunnels on top & bottom, rather than sides. The sounds were annoying. I hated it. Still do. I enjoy E.T. more than Pac Man. I knew Atari could do better. Proof: MS. Pac-man. What a difference!
