FND
Need to borrow an Atari 5200 Cartridge dumper. I have somewhere around 40 or 50 5200 prototypes I need to dump and send to Tempest, some have not been documented thus far like Atari Open Microgammon (Has option to change the board colors) Frisky Tom 020 #3 1-20-84 (is Rescue on Fratulas but the name on the label is only #3) Stargate (I think this version does not have the slow down problem) BaseBall 4-21-83 Track & Field 5-7 Jr. Pac-Man 2-15 And I am sure others Anyway I am in the process of listing them on Game Gavel http://www.gamegavel...ry/11705-1.html and want to get them archived for Tempest before there gone. I had promissed Tempest to do this like 3 or 4 years ago but never could find anyone to help, was hoping to build my own cart dumper but never found the time. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated and of course I would pay to ship the cart dumper both ways. Also if there is anyone in the Bay Area that can help the would be even better Thanks in advance FND
Tempest
Awesome! I'm sure someone in the Bay Area can help. I'd offer to do it myself, but my dumper is too old to work on my new computer.

+Mitch
You would need an EPROM programming since I don't think there is a dedicated 5200 cart dumper. Mitch

Mitch There is a member here that has built one but its on loan and they do not expect it to be returned anytime soon I was sure someone had sent me (some years ago) either a link or instructions to build one but cant find the link or instructions. Seems there is no one in the Bay Area who can help and I cant seem to find a dumper to borrow so my last alternative would be to build my own but not sure if I can find instructions and be able to build one in time since I am in the process of posting and selling them on GG, I am holding the ones I wanted to send to Tempest for last so there is still sometime but my hopes are dimming. PacManPlus
Hold it. I have had an Eprom burner (Pocket Programmer II) in the marketplace for months now. Will that read the chips FND is talking about? Granted, you will have to remove the eproms from the boards but are they socketed? If so, you may absolutely borrow it (or you can buy it if you want to hold on to it). If it's for the sake of preserving/dumping prototypes I have no problem with it. If it will work, please let me know and I will ship it out to you. Bob
FND
Hi Bob Thanks very much for the offer, much appreciated. I have just been doing some web research on the pocket programmer to see if it would work for me and from what I can tell it wont do 2732's which most of the chips are Thanks anyway I really do appreciate the offer but dont think it will work for me. If someone else knows more about the specifics of the programmer II as to weather it will do 2732's please let me know, Thanks in advance FND
+Mitch
Yes, I own a pocket programmer 2 as well and it will read 2732 EPROMs fine. You just need to make sure your PC has a parallel port. Mitch

Mitch Thanks for the info Mitch I was not 100% sure as the information I was looking at did not mention the Programmer 2, I have my old WIN98 computer with parallel and a XP lap top with Parallel I suspect one or the other will be compatable thanks I will PM BOB and hopfully I can get these dumped for Tempest

FND
Update: Just got the Programmer II in the mail today 12-28-2011 (was mailed 12-14 Priority Mail, hate to think how long it would of taken if it was not going Priority) Anyway I will start to get these dumped hopefully in a few days, pcked up a bad cold over Christmas and dont really have the energy right now but should be feeling better soon Tempest what is the best way to send the Roms email? do you have a way to combine them into BINs ?
FND
Anyone know how to combine BIN's I got the PROGRAMER II working and dumped "Road Runner" there were four 2732A EPROMs so I now have four BINs and want to combine them to test the Dump so I am sure everything is working correctly. So if anyone can tell me or lead me to some instructions on how to Combine them I can get to work finishing the dumps for tempest
+Mitch
It's been too long since I did it via the command line, I usually just combine them in a hex editor now. If you need help send me a PM. Mitch edit: looks like you got it fixed in the other thread.

FND
Started to Dump the EPROMS going a little slow as It seems the emulators are rather finiky. Took sometime to figure out the Dumps were good but the emulator would not run the game. Also had to figure out the order of the EPROMs while combining, some need to have Blank 4KB space at the start some in the middle and others still just simply need to be doubled up, we are talking the 2732s here the 2764s need 8K blank files. Thanks are in order to MITCH and PacManPlus for helping me figure this out I have dumped 6 so far all are working in one or the other of the two emulators I have installed (MESS or Jun52) I beleive only one or two will work in both. Here is the list of the 6 done to date, only 30 or so left to figure out Golf 2-10 Baseball 7-26 Last Starfighter 6-28 Atari Open (RS TENNIS) 11-19 Frisky Tom 020 Microgammon 7-11 or 7-14 Hoping the rest will go faster as I am getting faster at testing and have a better idea of what needs to be done with certain boards that have only 2 or 3 EPROMs and of course which emulator to use Edited January 2, 2012 by FND

FND
Man what a pile of protos...how'd you find all those? Tempest is gonna be busy these next few weeks... Some were found at a Garage sale some at flea markets here in the Bay Area others from RGVC before the World Wide Web (www) some through Ebay others picked up here at Atari Age or Digital Press even had one given to me by Curt V. as a thank you for running down a seller who was not sending the games and others by talking to people. It’s probably a 20-year collection heck just got a 15-year Member certificate from Ebay and I was collecting for years before that
