FYI for those interested, did you guys ever read my old Defender 5200 page? I talked with the developer, Steve Baker and posted his thoughts.

Nice! This is my favorite Defender... I like the controls, graphics and the chaos best of the home versions.
Shame that, Stargate didn't get released :(

I have been trying to find a way to post a respectable score, lol. Has not happened yet. I do have a final tomorrow so I won't be doing much till after that.

Edit: Well I think it is safe to say unless the other 2 don't post a score at all, that I will be the first elimination, sigh.

Not quite. They have a score of 0 since they didn't request a skip. I think they'll post something by the weekend. All ties for last place get eliminated as well.

Holy cow, I don't know what I did differently exactly, but I got on a roll like never before on Defender. New personal best!

I know the feeling. Quite a few of my games usually end at 8-12k. Every once in a while, I break off a lucky one.

Defender (easy)

2,030,675 WAVE 99++++++ :D

YUP, PERSONAL BEST! Not bad, I just played this 5200 version first time this passed Summer.

I hit pause, I didn't lose... I am unstoppable on Defender now. I had all my lives, all my bombs! Plus, not once did I lose all of my humans below!!!

if pause is allowed to take a pic, then I kept going and paused again at,

2,401,350 "I QUIT !"

I can now play Defender on easy, forever...!!
Is it allowed to pause for a pic, then keep going? :-o

Hey, nice improvement, but I did notice you have all 3 smart bombs left?!
Those come in handy and makes Defender life much easier, I tend to use them during the start of a wave,.. just fly to the most crowded area of the screen and blast one!

Congrats on mastering easy level 5200 Defender! I'm really glad there's no need to fight for first place.. we might have been playing this game a long, long time! :-)

Thanks! This is now my BREAD 'N BUTTER on 5200.

I know what you mean, since we only need to stay out of "last place", why not STOP and blink after 2 hours of playing LOL... ;)

We still have 2 players on the "bubble" with a score of zero. You guys know who you are and have one day remaining to avoid being eliminated. :-o
Just a friendly reminder. :)

I'm starting to finally get my Defender arcade chops back. Once you figure out how to 'not die', it gets better :)

Thanks. I'd have found it on final sweep, but must've lost that score between the millions.
Still 4 minutes remaining for ahuffman to try again...

Without further ado, here's the finals:

eligible players:

JacobZu7zu7 - 2,401,350
sdamon - 1,196,800
Cafeman - 249,000
Sonic R - 248,350
Roadrunner - 179,200
peedenmark7 - 143,375
atariron82 - 136,350
zylon - 59,775
ahuffman - 36,750 (eliminated)

Eliminating is tough, but it will happen to all but one of us. If you're eliminated, you can still play and post, but your scores won't be tracked in these rounds. Since I was 2nd last, I'd get to pick a number from the chart on 1st post. However, I know what the games are numbered so i will defer to next position: atariron82
He will "choose" our next round.

Well on the bright side, I did find a new appreciation for Defender, and am playing quite a bit better than normal. I got 34-37k 4-5 times the past two days.

Same here, while I still don't like this port much, I managed a lifetime best. For a brief moment in time, the game felt "right". 90% of my attempts at this one end at less than 20k.

Also, congrats on beating the HSC record: JacobZu7zu7 - 2,401,350

Whether or not these scores will count towards HSC records, I'll leave to our record keeper: roadrunner to decide.
