Meh.  Average.  And does it even say "Batman" to you?

Does it matter?  You asked for our favorite classic game music.  Well there it is.  I like the soundtrack for the whole game.  Ninja Gaiden is another.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad you posted it.  And I was just asking for favourites.  But there's no harm in a little back and forth discussion about the merits and demerits of whatever people post.  I welcome it.  Feel free to be critical about my picks as well.

Heres a few of my favorites, although I could understand where a few people could see some of these as repetative-

And although there are PLENTY of good songs in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, this one always comes to mind-

A few more SNES favorites:

(not a great game, but a brilliant soundtrack)

(all the "night" themes from Drakkhen are incredibly ambient and spacious)

(this song reminds me of "Rio" by Duran Duran, somehow)

And to balance things out a bit, two favorites from the Genesis:

I tried playing this in MAME the other day, but the sound emulation isn't working properly.

For pure "catchiness" it's Gyromite all the way. I play a game of that & I'm still humming the tune hours later.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned California Games on the Atari Lynx and Tetris on the Gameboy.  Pretty epic music in both games.

A revival!

a worthy one too. I got a Sound Blaster 16 for my pentium computer, and started playing Tyrian 2000... awesome music!
I think it sounds a LOT better on the real thing though, especially with a sub-woofer :P

The battle music from Final Fantasy (NES).  All of the music from Dragon Warrior (NES), except the opening title.
