Sorry, that should read, "Reasoning".

I'm getting a 'pres play on tape' message when I try to load disk images to my C64 using an Ultimate 1541 II. When I use a different C64 I do not get this message.

I'm going to replace the kernal with Jiffy DOS thinking that the 'press play on tape' message must be due to a DOS error since DOS means, "disk operating system."

Stock kernel usually says that unless you specify device 8 (the floppy drive).

Right, you have to do something like this:

The thing is that the same load method (the Ultimate II 'run' option) is producing different results on two different computers.
