My parents have a Commodore 128D in their basement that they are looking to get rid of.  It is a complete set of Keyboard, Computer, Monitor, printer and mouse and it was all in working condition as of the last time it was set up.  I believe that all of the pieces are in their original boxes.

I realize that the guy on EBAY trying to sell a brand new one is ridiculous in thinking it's worth $2500, but how do you value something like this?  Anyone have any idea what a good asking price for a set like this would  be?

The 128D with k/b can sell for anywhere between $50-$300 on evilbay depending on condition and the luck of the draw.  The monitor might be worth $50-$100 if it's a 1080,1084 or 1084S model, less if it's a different model or brand.  Mouse goes for $10-$20.  Printer and other bits are probably not worth much.  Keep in mind that ebay/paypal will take ~20% of the selling price in fees and put all the risk of a fraudulent bidder on you so you might be happier and net nearly as much by selling thru craigslist or an online forum.

First off, for anyone to give you even an estimate of value, you'd need to post pictures and accurate description of the condition (other than what pictures might show). You would also need to test it thoroughly. The price can vary dramatically based on condition. I may be in the market for one, but only the main unit with keyboard, not for a monitor, so I'll hold out for a loose one. Thanks for asking here first instead of just posting it up on ebay with a ridiculous BIN like so many people do.

Exactly what he said. Come up with a ballpark figure and post some pics. Put it in the 'Marketplace' thread and you'll probably sell it right away if it's priced well. Good luck! I may ... be ... interested ... no! Must .. resist .. the .. urge!
