I has come to my attention during a PM chat here in AA that the jaguar indeed have an s-video cable. I never saw one to sell, to be honest, and I'm very happy with the composite quality but better is better, if it's real better.

Can anyone comment on that? the s-video is worth it?
Is there a video component cable?

Is it possible to alter the composite cable to get s-video? maybe adding a plug?

I thought the S-Video was much better than the composite... especially on my larger TV. It reduced the blurryness to a degree and the edges of objects were much better defined.

It does not make much of a difference on my smaller CRT though but it is still noticable.

I did not get a S-Video cable until about 5yrs of collecting for the Jaguar but I'm happy I bought it.

S-Video's much sharper than composite and I think it generally makes Jag games look better.

It is not as great a leaping in quality as from RF to composite but it noticeable.   You can get one for around $30 if you search around.

hummm.. I'm sure that if the pinout is documented you can alter the cable. You need Chroma ©, Luma (Y) and Ground (GND). GND for sure is there, I bet Chroma and Luma are combined together near the jacks to generate composite. Maybe I'm mistaken.

You have separate RGB, composite, and luma/chroma on the AV port.

Solder 8A and 8B to pin 3 and 4 and pins 1 and 2 to 7B.

That will give S-video if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, it's simple enough to just add s-video & composite jacks to the jaguar itself.
