LidLikesIntellivision
I'm going to try the analog stick from D pad to use as paddles. I couldn't associate a key for the analog stick within the stella. Keybord as joystick can't cross the screen before those screaming bombs. Never saw real paddles, only pictures from internet. Don't even know what's the meaning of paddles in English... Does it come from pad? I had the black atari wich came with two joysticks and missile commando. None of my friends in Brazil had paddles. I suspect the paddles weren't sold in Brazil. Edited March 19, 2012 by Liduario

Deteacher
4,175! Question. Can emulation be used with the mouse? It's not as good as paddles, but for those who have to use emulation, it's certainly better than keyboard controls. If mouse is not allowed, please disregard this score. I'll break out my paddles tonight. One of my modded A7800s is on it's way home. Just in time to play on real hardware/paddles! W00t w00t! I'll break out my paddles tonight. This same question came up in another thread. You're right in that in Stella, the mouse is better that joystick for emulating paddles. But nothing beats real paddles with a Stelladaptor/2600-daptor (or a real console) of course.
Vocelli
Hey, it is a new week. Which means a new game for the Knockout Tourney! I assume the final will be in June. Wow! But first... Fantastic Voyage: Everyone competed and everyone did well. But my prediction was off slighlty. I predicted 210K as the lowest so if these players would have saved one more patient then they would have been saved as well. Nice to see everyone but in a good score! 05+ - 197,286 - DT Kofoed 10th 04+ - 188,286 - classicgamer_27330 11th 03+ - 182,650 - LarcenTyler 12th These players... 15+ - 397,144 - toymailman 1st 14+ - 395,960 - oyamafamily 2nd 13+ - 362,378 - Gorfy 3rd ...did GREAT! We seem to see the same names near the top everyweek BUT... one bad game and anyone can be Knocked-out! Everyone has one bad game on the list, RIGHT? Now onward: Astroblast I use to play this game with a joystick until I read that you can use paddles! Wow, this changed my game. I think I am pretty good at this game but not great. Someone out there will be using a keyboard, not good. They will have trouble. But I predict anyone who uses paddles will break 40K easily. Once over 40K the game gets a lot faster and at 50K WOW! My low score prediction will be 25K. I know that is low but with a keyboard this game is tough. Someone will, no doubt, will break 100K and maybe 200K. Once you can keep up after 50K then the endurance effect kicks in. How long can you last? Good Luck with this game. Paddles are the key to victory. classicgamer_27330
I suck at paddle games, I'm better with a stick or d-pad, or keyboard than I am with paddles. If I make it to kaboom, that will be my downfall
bigbee99
I've never played this one with paddles. I just always used a stick. 22,205 B
cparsley
As for Kaboom I agree (never played as a kid) but the reason I love these competitions is to get outside of your confort zone, to play what you normally wouldn't play... Love the challenge (even thought more than likely I'll get my rear handed to me in Kaboom!)
Scrabbler15
22,950 I don't really like paddle games much. It's harder for me to control things. Maybe I'll get better at it this week. . .
Gorfy
You can add me to the Kaboom fear list -- never got very far with that game, but I do like it nonetheless. The game I most dread on the list, however, is Ms Pacman. It seems like no matter how much I try, I just can't get the hang of pacman games. LidLikesIntellivision
Did anyone try a trackball? Tonight I'm going to use a mouse, but I'm wondering if a trackball would be a better solution. Always wanted to try a trackball, peharps it's the time to buy one. Another interesting solution would be a 3d mouse. It rotates like the paddles, but probably it would require some tweaks in stella...

The two that I have always seemed sluggish, although I bought them used. I've read that some trak-ball models are better than others. There may be thread on it on this website. Deteacher
Just hooked up my paddles with the Stelladaptor and made the necessary adjustments for Astroblast. I learned something....my paddles need a good cleaning. They're shaking worse than Lindsay Lohan in rehab... Too soon?

A quick fix (albeit temporary) for jittery paddles: keep turning the knob all the way back and forth for a few minutes. It actually works in most cases!
