Ranthulfr
Here's a question. Why was Sentinel, a game that requires special hardware (light guns), released so late in the life cycle of the system? It seems like an out-of-the-blue thing to do. The system was in the throes of death, and this game required new controllers that no other game used. high voltage
Because in Europe, especially UK the main gaming centre of Europe, the VCS was given another lease of life with the introduction of the XEGS and its light gun. I think the XEGS had 6 light gun games. Edited March 31, 2012 by high voltage

maiki
Double Dragon is, I think, an amazing achievement on the 2600. Not my opinion. I recently deleted this game from my official list. Reason: nearly non existent gameplay and no fun playing it at all... As for those other late games not to bother with, I am also considering deleting Ikari Warriors which seems to me like a cheap Commando rip off (which again seems to be based on Taito's Front Line that owns them both...). On the other hand, Rampage is an excellent achievement for 2600 standards, and I also like the simplified but 100% working conversion of Klax... vacuumnoise
just got California Games and it is pretty fun, the graphics are amazing and love that version of "Louie, Louie"
DesertJets
I ignored all your advice and bought Ballblazer for my XEGS instead. I have a list of titles that look good and hopefully I'll find a deal one day -- seems like stuff that I may have better luck with finding in a vintage game store (maybe). just got California Games and it is pretty fun, the graphics are amazing and love that version of "Louie, Louie" California Games does look pretty good.... so does Skate Boardin' and both are cheap. littleman jack
also just won a copy of Radar Lock, so I'll let you know how that is; its from 1989 I believe Remember to use two joysticks for Radar Lock. It's not a bad game, just takes awhile to figure it all out. Or maybe that's just me. It took me awhile to figure it all out.

MartinP
I could use some help here about late-released Atari 2600 games: I would like to know if the Atari 2600 klax(Pal) Cartridge plays ok on a Colecovision USA model with an Atari expansion module? Also: does anyone have an Atari 2600 klax cartridge for sale that is NFTS(Us model)?
godzillajoe
I have the NSFW version that will only work on NTFS but maybe it's because I didn't RTFM.
shadow460
I'm evidently missing out here. I've enjoyed stuff like Jr. Pac-Man, Winter Games and River Raid II, though. I do have a few more post 1984 games that I haven't played yet.

I do have a few more post 1984 games that I haven't played yet. I've gotten back on a 2600 collecting kick lately and am really seeking out these later games -- at least the ones I can get my hands on for not too much $$$. Just the number of games that were released right around the 83/84 crash, were delayed because of it, or just those later red label games seems to be pretty decent. The Holy Grail right now for me is H.E.R.O., but I haven't seen it come up at a price I am willing to pay for it. What I have picked up as of late includes Solaris, Snoopy and the Red Baron, Midnight Magic, Titlematch Pro Wrestling, California Games, Winter Games and Summer Games. And I am actively looking at buying a few more if my eBay luck holds out. I may try and get the other 3 Absolute titles since they are easy/cheap enough to find. That way I can boast two complete North American/NTSC sets (Epyx and Absolute), even if it is only 7 games total. sqoon
Wow! I had no idea H.E.R.O. came out in 1984. I must have played that game so much that I thought it was released in 1977! I thought I got my H.E.R.O. copy in 1983. Was there an early release?
MartinP
does anyone know if an atari 2600 klax pal cartridge will work on a colecovision expansion module that plays atari cartridges, but is a USa tv and NFTS System? phattyboombatty
I still say Track & Field and Road Runner are probably in the top 5 for Best Graphics and Most Arcade-like Gameplay.
