Are you talking about a specific game that uses a save state or the emulators save state ?

I never had a problem with either one. Make sure your file directories are set up properly?

Emulator...

I got the apps/snes9x(whatever the end is)/roms for the actual rom files
and the apps/snes9x(etc)/saves for saves

without any success.

Two things:
- When you try and save a state what are you choosing? Save RAM or snapshot?
- Also what kind of SD card do you have? and is it writable? Check to make sure you can write to it.

Tried both and one at a time without success...

The SD card is most definitely writeable...

The reason I asked is because I am unable to write to some SD cards even if its writable but this only happened to me with USB loaders so I got a different card.

I know it sucks but fork over and try another card.

Tried 3 cards, 2gb, 4gb and 8gb from different companies, so I appreciate that thought, but that has been ruled out of this equation.

I believe the Snes9xGX is the only one on the Wii platform for SNES... There is likely more NES emu's avail, but since it appears built/written by same folks who did Snes9x, if I can get that worked out, it should make the NES one work too.

I mean any other emulators. Like see if the Genesis emu does the same thing (that would be a good one to check, as IIRC, it's by a different author than the SNES/NES ones), or Atari 2600, etc.

Its listed as multiple due to multiple ways to make a Wii, you know, actually work as you want it to... (Run emulators instead of paying tooth and nail for VC content, Play DVDs (yes the Wii has a DVD drive, but Nintendo has locked the ability to do so))

It also depends on which game you have available to do it with, and which version firmware you have.

Step 1) Install Modchip
Step 2) Install Homebrew Channel

Heh.  I sometimes like to imagine what, say, George Washington would make out of some of these subject lines.  "Wii emus save states"?  "Twitter trolls blogosphere for lulz"?  "Yahoo Serious festival"?

Rex, why bother with a chip, when there are way too many software ways of accomplishing the same thing?

Because there were no software methods when I installed it.   If I got a Wii today, I'd probably try a softmod.
Also, it's nice knowing that your exploit can't be patched because it's stuck to the system with molten metal : )

edit: Wish I could help with your original issue up there, but it's completely wacko.  Only advice I could offer would be to remove & reinstall those emus.  Good luck.

rotflol... if you update correctly, your softmod can't be patched either :)

But I can definitely understand the feeling on a hard-mod, as I've done with other's previously :)

Getting back to the op question... more testing of the SIM card wil allow it to be read/written to/deleted from on both the Computer and on the Wii HomeBrew Browser, but not from inside individual programs (like the emus or the Wii Save State program) (conjecture on this)

Suggestions, like is their a setting or file needing to be in the boot.dol or something to allow writing by those programs?
